I don't get it. If Matt spoke the exact same words as this guy, you would all suck up to him. Give the guy a break, imagine if you were in his position and coming home to see all these negative comments about you.
@mart2234219 жыл бұрын
+GlitterBuzz I couldn't agree more! I don't know what everyone's problem is? This guy is perfectly competent at reviewing cars. I watch Carbuyers videos to find out about the car their reviewing, not about the person reviewing it! Whether Matt has left or not isn't Carbuyers fault or anyone else's, so give the guy a break and treat him with some respect!
@thespringonion9 жыл бұрын
+GlitterBuzz There're more contributing factors than "content" alone in car reviews, last but not least “presentation”. Most viewers of Carbuyer expect videos delivered in a light-hearted candid manner, not from a presenter that dresses like a car salesman and speaks like a car salesman. As a matter of fact Rebecca's debut is worthy of a cringe, but her development over time no doubt played a significant role to where Carbuyer is today. Perhaps James believes he is the finished article, stands by his own style, blinkers out the critics and hoping viewers will find love for him eventually, perhaps, if Carbuyer is the only channel that does car reviews...

Surely the one point to raise when your comparing a Japanese luxury car to the german or british models is the much improved reliability and the fact you can rely on the car more. Carbuyer seems to be obsessed with mentioning the quality of the materials of the dashboard and little else. There are horrible reliability problems with Audi's for example but you wouldn't know it looking at carbuyer videos. A soft dashboard doesn't rank as my no.1 priority.

I used to like your reviews but not after looking at this one. I have personally seen Q30 and compared with Audi Q3 and BMW X3 and Mercedes GLA. Q30 beats all of Audi and BMW in quality of interiors. Mercedes GLA and Q30 have same space in the back seat. I did not find it as bad as you have rated. It is comparable to high end brands. British usually follow 'ratings' and we'll known brands, hence Infiniti is less popular in the UK

Having seen it in the metal outside my office a good few times, I actually think it's one of the better-looking premium hatches. I don't think it's quite as distinctive as he makes it out though. I mean, the overall shape is very similar to the Mercedes A-Class, let's be honest... and it looks very tacky and Japanese inside, which is a pity. Certainly more appealing than a Lexus nonetheless, I would say.

I think James is getting better, not that he was ever especially bad. While I prefer Matt, I prefer James to Ginny. His speech is a tad effeminate, which he can't help. And he's more fashion conscious than most car reviewers -- is that a bad thing? Matt is a seasoned pro, and has vast knowledge teamed with a great sense of humour. But James is doing remarkably well, and there's often sarcasm in his eyes. I quite like him...as a car reviewer -- although I still very much look forward to Matt's reviews. On the other hand, I think Ginny's reviews are uninspiring. Sorry, Ginny. Anyway, I welcome James to the Carbuyer/Auto Express team. I think he's competent, and he's complementary to the existing team.

2:20 - and there's the problem. Premium price, but it's made by the same people as made the neighbour's Qashqai. It's a reverse "Skoda effect" - people don't think "This is a cheap way of getting a VW" (even though Skoda barely is cheap these days) they instead think "This is an expensive way to buy a Nissan". Plus the marketing was always a bit half-hearted and lacked the conviction of Lexus, who basically already HAD this market. Shame. because the cars were actually very nice. But as with quite a few sub-brands (Citroen's DS, Ford's Vignale), people are not fooled and don't see a luxury car, they see a "top of the range ordinary" car. Fine, when it's priced appropriately. Deadly when it isn't. In this sector badge snobbery is very pervasive.
@Rapture779 жыл бұрын
Build quality is much better in Japanese cars than most Euro brands, and what's worse definitely superior to all Brit brands even under foreign ownership by the Germans and Indians. The ignorance here is truly flabbergasting. Infiniti is well known in America and well respected since the late 80's. The more expensive models like the Q50 have innovative powertrains such as hybrids and steering by wire. All of this is Nissan's own innovation. and not ' nicking' . Brits have to grow up , understand and acknowledge build quality, scalability and consistency. For a start please review JD Power & Associates for overall build quality ranking and you will be see the top rankings are Japanese , number 1 for over 20 years is Toyota - Lexus. No Euro brands. Jaguar Land Rover have surprisingly improved in JD Power ( but still not in top 20) from poor quality but only because of biliions of pounds of investments by TATA of India which saved UK jobs. Grow up.
