Infinity 1/32 Helldiver update sets review

Infinity, part of HpH, have released their first injection moulded kit which I reviewed a while back, now I have all the update sets to go along with it. Boy oh boy, this is some nice stuff!!

Wow, with the additional detail sets this could be one eye-catching and beautiful build. The gunner open is almost a must as it is so unusual to see the Helldiver in that configuration. Add in open bomb bay and flaps and this kit goes into another realm altogether. Thanks for this update Nigel

Hi Nigel this is from border model's a statement on the 1.32 lancaster and mould maintenence issues so the kit will only be sold in limited numbers! It will not be re produced so a pre order is advised I wanted haha! At that price I'm sure there will still be many on the shelfs but here is what they said! It's coppied and pasted "Today we are releasing our first 1/32nd aircraft BF010 Avro Lancaster w/full Interior. When we first saw the 3D model and BOXART of it, we were hooked. Due to the change of events in 2020, we ended up acquiring the molds for this kit. We spent a year doing more testing, fixing, including making instructions without design drawings in order to make this epic kit a success. Finally we finished it. We contacted the artist, Mr. Mark Postlethwaite. and purchased the rights to use the painting from him. It will eventually be marketed as BOXART for this product. Due to many production troubles and mold maintenance issues, the product will be sold in limited quantities worldwide and will not be produced again for a certain period of time afterwards. This Christmas season, it will be available for pre-order all over the world!"

A great review of how to add bucketloads more detail to your Helldiver. Loving the return of the gorgeous teal blue towel, which makes a great backdrop for showing small, detailed parts against. 👍👍

I'm building this just now with the resin extras it's got! Been on it 3 weeks now just got the masks for the canopy, I got the resin kit fornthe folding wing's option might go down that route with it being a big model on the shelf we shall see! The bomb bay is all done now it's looking good! Thats expensive mine was £14 bang on for the folding wing set £12 for the bombs Curtis sb2c weapon set from infinity model's I got it through my friends model shop but no discount he would have got it from Hannants! Yes I just checked it was hannants and they are the prices I paid the £14 and £12 I'm waiting for my landing gear that was £21.99 it's new stock in so if your looking for the landing gear hannants now have it in stock!

Yep, Hannants have got their prices wrong. They did this once before with Eduard. I asked why it was cheaper to buy the individual sets than the Big ED, thinking the BE was overpriced.. nope the individuals were too cheap.. so they put them up and wouldn't give me discount even though I pointed it out to them!!

From what I can see of the instructions for the bombs, I think step 2 & 3 refer to one size of bomb and 4 & 5 to the other , hence the differences

Hi, Nigel. I decided to try to get the Opened gunner position and the weapons set. The weapons set because the plane looks kind of bare without bombs and or rockets, and the gunner position because it was fighting in hotter climates and the photos I have seen all seem to show both the canopies open on the deck (Unless it was raining ;-)! I considered the Bomb bay, but the ordinance under the wings will do. Just waiting for an estimate of the cost from the LHS I obtained the kit from. Note on the weapons set - The US used dual arming on their bombs. One small propeller on the nose and a second on the tail. The front one was actually the primary arming switch and was held stationary until the bomb was dropped by a simple pin and wire attached to the rack. Once it started it spun briefly to release the arming propeller in the tail, which spun to complete the arming of the bomb. This happened within a couple of seconds. The wire release was tied into the rack bomb release and if that rack failed to drop the bomb (It happened quite a bit!) the aircraft was then stuck with an armed bomb which made for an "Interesting" landing!

The 1/32 Dauntless and Avenger in 1/32 are Trumpeters best in my opinion.

I think it may be 3d printed masters and then cast from them??
