Speaking to someone involved with the mods at CB at a local tournament recently, it seems that the goal at CB is to develop the Reinf. rules so that you can indeed play asymmetric games like this 350(Ref.) vs. 300 points. They also seem to be working on making commlinks interesting and useful so that you have incentive to keep them alive :)

I'm back! With terrible hayfever and in a room with dubious acoustics, we're playing the old evil Combined Army vs Tartary Army Corps. This is the first time I've played a relatively tuned 300pt list vs a Reinforcements list and it was a tight, solid game that I'm very glad to have played.

Was the event that was canceled the ‘reinforcements allowed’ event you mentioned in your last video? As someone who’s been looking to get into the game for ages and has yet to manage it, I thought that reinforcements might be easier to play as a beginner, since you’re controlling much less stuff at any given point, but the more I learn the more it seems to add a lot of complexity without adding a commensurate amount of depth- though it’s possible that the surface has only been scratched there, especially with list building. Any interest in sharing the "terrible StarCo list" you mentioned? Also the audio sounds good, I wouldn’t worry too much

The StarCo list is from this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/paK9Y2SsrrFgndk This was played before we had the full reinforcements rules so it doesn't have a CommLink, so it's not legal and would be worse after changing to include a CommLink profile. It's not actively terrible per se, but Anacondas have always let me down and this game was no exception. In terms of a gateway into the game, I'd actually suggest starting off playing 200pts with the simplest scenarios you can find. You will definitely want to jump up to 300 sooner rather than later, but it's just a simpler starting point while you're learning the basics of executing orders, how to take fights effectively, how to play scenarios etc. Reinforcements is a mechanic that adds a lot of list construction complexity and changes the general pace of the game for the reinforcing player, which can be interesting, but I'd probably avoid it while you're learning. And yes - we were hoping to have a little 'Reinforcements Optional' event, but in the space of twelve hours prior we had most of our players knocked out by a combination of food poisoning, family drama, unexpected commitments and forgetting what day of the week Saturday is.

Forgetting what day of the week Saturday is is an unfortunately both common and relatable problem, and I'll keep the advice about 200 pt games in mind. And if the 'Reinforcements Optional' event ever does come together, I'd love to see you talk about it here.
