I wanted to take a moment to thank you for these wonderful videos. My daughter (about to turn 10 years old) is really into physiology, and it's hard to find good content out there to explain concepts to her. I grew up in a medical family, so I have some understanding and vocabulary at my disposal, but I haven't studied physiology since college, so my knowledge only goes so far. Heck, I'm a software engineer and usually have to resort to using crazy analogies to get concepts across to my daughter. Your videos create a rich visual experience that makes the content sick for visual learners. By applying your videos, and an anime called "cells at work", I have been able to take the base concepts she wants to learn about and expand them beyond my original understanding. We love watching your videos and pausing here and there for clarification as needed. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and talent for teaching. It is opening up the world of physiology even to younger kids! You are a gift to the world!

Glad to hear your experience. I am sure your daughter will love medical field of she has such interest in physiology at this age. Happy that my talks are helping clear the concepts. Stay safe and blessed 🙏

These seem always to improve on the last . . . and in this case the visuals and metaphors are stupendous. Thank you so much for all of your knowledge and keen sense of how best to 'hammer it home', such that we can understand and recall.

Question.....Dr Been, if comorbidities (hypertension, A1C between 6-7) others, are being managed via pharmacological maintenance do they still "count" as comorbidities and place you in high risk category for Covid19?

Thie immune system is so very beautiful and elegant that I find it inconceivable it would go to all this effort to defend the body and end up distroying it by runaway inflammation.. it makes no sense. I reckon its not a faulty designed emune system but more a lack of required components IE vitamin D and dietary zinc or other mineral's or vitimins. It is known vitimin D controls inflammation ,in my case I have first hand experience of this fact when I became very sick not covert.

Dr. Been, I just read an article in Forbes regarding CBD's potenital for reducing inflammation (via downregulating cytokines), as well as promoting interferons. Any thoughts?

I agree with the comments by Nebhu MS that youtube is an adopted child (I was going to use a worse word than "adopted", but cleaned up my act.) The short sectioned videos give me no confidence that my questions will be seen. Moreover, live forum questions vanish when over. I recommend one permanent dedicated video with a one minute header that says "this is DrBeen; please put your questions (regardless of which lecture) in the comments section in this "mail box" video." (Perhaps another video to contain rants that are not questions??)

Thank you for another excellent lecture . With due respect I would like to bring your kind attention regarding the open forum . Unfortunately it has become a Twitter forum rather than a live open forum . For 1 hour 20 minutes you have been answering twitter questions and by that time you were tired . I know the difficulty in searching the “Q” in live forum . Once I had to type 4 times in live forum the same question for your eyes to fall . So my suggestion would be to divide twitter questions and live open forum questions . Finishing one after the other you will be doing justice to only one sector and that will be mentally and physically tiring for you too . The novel short segment video is an excellent idea . Thank you once again . Please continue the good work . .

DR BEAN: ADAM17 (Chymase) Cleaves ACE2 to activate it and also has a TNF-a Converting Enzyme function.
@01abanisenapati164 жыл бұрын
Such clear explanation.Sir hats off to you and eagerly waiting for the rest part of inflammation.
@nebhum4 жыл бұрын
Cause of hypogonadism : SARS-CoV-2 enters into human cells using ACE2 as receptor which have very similar spike protein three-dimensional (3D) structures with strong binding affinity .ACE2 is present with relatively high expression in respiratory epithelial cells, alveolar cells type I and II, oral cavity, kidney, testis, and intestines .Thus, human cells with ACE2 expression are probably targets of SARS-CoV-2 infection .However, it should still be noted that SARS-CoV-2 invasion is not just about ACE2 and there is probably other vulnerable organs .It seems that high temperature resulting from persistent fever and triggering a secondary autoimmune response leading to an autoimmune orchitis are the most likely involved mechanisms.
@earthangel25244 жыл бұрын
Nebhu MS. If high fever triggers autoimmune overkill, when do you treat the fever? Doesn't fever, in general, help fight infection? So if you get Covid 19 symptoms (assuming no meaningful access to testing) do you let a low fever go until maybe 102F and then treat before it causes harm? Or treat smaller fever right away? I AM NOT ASKING FOR MEDICAL ADVICE. I am only asking you to expand your hypothesis a bit. Thanks so much.
