I think an expanded spreadsheet and video on career raises against inflation would be interesting. I hear many people talking about getting a raise in a positive light, but I often question whether they considered if that raise even kept up with inflation.

Right now, for many folks, raises are outpacing inflation. Current inflation is 2.4% and is expected to decrease farther, but we'll see what happens next year when there will be a new administration and possibly new policies. There is also the question whether or not various corporations will be willing to lower prices now that the issues that initially raised costs have eased considerably. Since capitalism is based on maximum profits, I am not hopeful and I'm not sure what any political party can do anything about that.

My biggest question would be how much should be in my HYSA and how much should be in my (SP500) ?

Inflation is not inherently bad, it is important and necessary for a functioning economy, 2% is the target inflation rate, 3.5% is a very aggressive long term assumption

Consider your age when you are deciding to invest. I was heavier into the market until I turned 59. You have to be realistic about the number of years you have left when you consider the risk of putting your retirement funds heavily into the market. If there is a downturn, a big one, would you have enough years to wait for the upswing? Think about what you will need in the next 5 years, because anything you will need within that time frame should not be in the market. Great video!

Great video! At what point should we invest in index funds? Should we have a substantial emergency fund and high interest debts paid off first or should we start doing both? Paying off debts whilst investing a little into the S&P500?

Nick, suggest you do a full video on the best performing asset of the last decade that is intrinsically deflationary: Bitcoin.

My retirement savings are going in the stock market, but my biggest mid-term financial goal is to save enough cash for a down payment on a house within the next 2-3 years. For that length of time, not sure if all should go in HYSA vs. the stock market. Not sure of the tax ramifications for non-retirement stock investments.

Corporate greed and price gauging is the reason for inflation.

"Financial resilience" ✨🙌🏻 This right here is gold advice. Learning how to say "no" to ourselves is the most powerful tool. Living within our means, being mindful around our spending habits, and getting real about what we actually "need".

@@mrmikebrew I have VOO Vanguard also. Still in tough times its the asset that has withstood the test of time. That’s why central banks is keeping and buying allot of it

@@MultiScotty24 S&P 500 outperforms gold in the long run, also I would not say it’s in tough times in the short run either, VOO it is up 20% on YTD. Also the central bank used to buy long term treasury bonds through QE, not the S&P 500, and they do so to encourage investment when inflation would have otherwise been running lower than targeted. Recently they have actually been reducing their balance sheet by selling off those securities to reduce inflation through QT

Sigh* too bad it's clearly too much to ask for a currency that doesn't inflate.
@Ace202116 күн бұрын
It isn’t, and there’s been one since 2009. It’s called Bitcoin.
@mrmikebrew15 күн бұрын
@@Ace2021Bitcoin is not immune to inflation!!! It’s actually more susceptible because it has a fixed amount of money supply, reducing the ability for a central bank (which as of right now has no central bank) to control and monitor its inflation rate and inact monetary policy, meaning it will inflate or deflate at any rate the free market determines. And if it was the primary form of currency and its value rises, due to a fixed money supply it will rapidly deflate creating a hoarding incentive and dismantle the overall economy!!!!
