In India street food cleanliness is a big problem. Health ministry does nothing. Hotel food also can make you sick. Unless you have money to eat in places like Annapurna restaurant ITC hotel or such places, don't eat food outside. Cook and eat at home. You never know how these small places are maintained. Or if they are using toxic chemicals for profits. Many times the pani for pani puri is very cheap food coloring. They also use a lot of added MSG, which makes you think the food is very good and you keep eating it. Causing various health issues. Unlike western countries, In India they don't care about cleanliness. There they take strict action. Here they take bribes.
