2:25 Ha! The biggest flaws with Trump's logic. 1) Many American companies buy materials from other countries. They will also have to raise prices. They will have to buy more expensive materials from someplace else 2) Out of season fruit often comes from other countries, 3) Some foreign products don't really have an American equivalent. Playing a Nintendo Switch is a very different vibe from playing an xbox. 4) Companies will raise prices as high as they can get away with rasing them the American products won't automatically be cheaper. Trump is out of touch because he is rich. These price hikes mean nothing to him.

Just because I was curious about the toilet paper supply chain, there's some info from the port strike. From what I understand, the US produces most of its TP, but... "According to North Carolina State's College of Natural Resources, manufacturers rely heavily on eucalyptus pulp imported from Brazil. Eucalyptus pulp contains short fibers that make toilet paper soft and absorbent. The pulp is mixed with water to create a liquid sludge that is dried and flattened into sheets of paper. In a worst-case scenario where the port strike delays shipments of eucalyptus pulp to U.S. manufacturers, shoppers should be able to at least purchase commercial-grade toilet paper. Commercial-grade toilet paper is made from recycled paper that’s sourced domestically."

China retaliated by buying produce from other countries, which were happy to trade. This time, Trump wants to tariff everybody. Guess what, genius. Everybody will continue to freely trade with China while Americans pay more for everything. Do you think other countries won't retaliate too, putting tariffs on American exports, making them less competitive against the Chinese ones? Who wins? China. Come out from the garage. How many things in Walmart are made in the USA? I don't know the answer, but I assume it is "not many". What WILL all those shoppers do when their choices are items made oversees that are more expensive because of tariffs vs. items made in the USA that are expensive because our workers get a living wage and benefits? Hmmm. Time will tell.

Tariffs on out of country produced products so they will be produced in AMERICA to help AMERICAN families. Made in China...how about reading products that say made in America
@alley58692 күн бұрын
That's not how it works. We do not have large scale manufacturing plants like those countries to sustain this. Also, if all products are made here prices will be even higher. Go read an economics book!
@krn26832 күн бұрын
Hell most of our farm equipment is at least partially manufactured outside the US. Hope you enjoy food prices going up even more from that and deporting immigrant labor.

influencers are consumers, they tell their fans about the price of goods. Just like old ladies shopping at the market for goods. Who else would you listen to about goods and pricing, politicians like Trum...

The materials for the microchips in your phone/laptop that you're using right this moment were sourced from abroad. 98% of the worlds gallium, essential for semiconductors, is produced in China. 😂 So even if you're buying something produced in the US by a US based company, it uses materials from all over the world.

And what do you think is going to happen to prices if people start hoarding again? Yeah, you go influencer (aka _________), get our already too high prices up there.

Pay down debt, save money and stockpile essential items. Then you are ready for anything. Same old advice. Quit living above your means.
