Why do you think Roman historians depicted the Julio-Claudian women as tyrants?

This boat idea is taking assassination to another very creative level haha. I love that she kept a level head and got to shore. Great video as always!!

Excellent video as always! I'd like to see more Indigenous history as well- the Saami and Te Kīngitanga would be interesting topics. Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much! We're focusing on ancient Rome right now, but we'll have other video topics in the future.

it seems like a common theme for noble women of ancient rome to grab power by proxy through their sons

is it possible that agrippina's parenting played a role in making nero as messed up as he was?

@@GeoffryGifari It's possible, but we'd also have to look at how neros childhood AS A WHOLE played a role(not just her role as a mother or her "parenting skills")

I'm always hesitant to fully believe the Evil about any woman, not to say women are incapable of being cruel or powerhungry, but for example Ranavalona I, she was supposedly a tyrant who killed, starved, and tromented her people, but all that we know of her comes from colonists who did all those things to the countries they invaded. Likewise, any woman in Rome back then who was smart and participated in the politics would have been seen as unwomanly, thus a monster

We agree with you, Ethan. Anything negative written about ancient women should be taken with a grain of salt. Thanks for watching!
