Great concept as said, but only works if the bowl is being spun around fast. The slower you move it the more falls out. It's like when you pull a table cloth from a table, it's done fast so that the objects on top don't have time to react.

Liv Scott It's not a gyroscope, to be fair. This looks like a bowl with most of the weight at the bottom, which is allowed to rotate freely. Gravity keeps the bottom of the bowl pointing down at all times, regardless of the orientation of the handles. The bowl should only work if the kid holds it by the handles. A gyroscope uses angular momentum (generated by a spinning piece) to fight any force attempting to change the orientation of the gyroscope at all. Regardless of where the kid held it, it be difficult (perhaps impossible for a child) to rotate it.

My mother got my daughter one. It's great for preventing tilt-based spills but nothing else. If you shake it, drop it, or put your thumb at the edge of the bowl to prevent it from spinning (like my daughter does sometimes to steady the bowl) then you're in for a mess. They're also a bitch to clean if you get anything messy stuck inside and it looks like a toy so my daughter treats it like one. Guess what? It's broken. But it was like 3 bucks and a gift. Worth it for the experience but I'm not replacing it.
