The minimalism of some songs of the 80s is extremely sticky in the ears and at the same time turn into masterpieces.

I so remember when information society first came out with this song, I went straight to the music to buy the cd, unfortunately they were sold out. So I had to buy the cassette and then how to turn around and buy a Walkman too. Old-school listening devices back, that's what I use to call them. Everytime when I rode my skateboard 🛹 I just had to listen to information society. If my cassette tape wasn't in my walkman, then I wouldn't ride my skateboard. It is now 2021 and this song is still fantastic, still listening to it and I'll never get tired of it. Great music back then, someone that music is pretty good today not by much

Back in 1988 when I got the album on cassette, I played it until it died in 1989 when I was 21. Fortunately, I found a CD in of the same album in the '90s and then converted it to MP3 and can listen anytime I desire, but it had a special place in my life 30 years ago, when I was young and thought I was in love. Ah, to be young and insane again!

I still have mine that I bought in 1988. I remember hearing it on the local AM station late at night and freaking out because it had samples from Star Trek. That tinkly, bell-like sequence just before the bridge still affects me the same way it did back in '88.

This song always reminds me of a girl I had a crush on in highschool. Of course I was in highschool the year it came out. My teen years we're pretty cool, the music was great. Except that I never did hook up with that girl and we lost touch years ago. Oh wait.... Facebook exists now! Lol (maybe I should try to find her). She's probably married by now, she was hot.

From production standpoint when you consider how primitive computer recording was at that time, the technicality of this track is mind blowing. I would struggle and still not succeed doing anything remotely resembling such tightness TODAY, with all of our technology advancements. I would love to have been there to see the creative process for this one. And this was one of first tapes I ever actually bought (not copied lol) - I wanted the quality of recording to be as crisp as possible. Hearing it on a cassette was magic - the warmth of tape gave this digital gem that one ambiance missing from CD.

There was something magical about that brief time when analog and digital intermingled freely. Most artists went digital, some stayed 'Retro', but very few still really capture that hybrid feel. I would say Beck is a good example of that vibe.

I was 27 living in Miami and during the days I was building high-rise buildings all over South Fl and at night I was slinging cocktails (bartending) at some of the hottest clubs in South Florida it was the spring & summer of 1988 and this song was so hot and playing at all the clubs, radio stations, homes, beaches and everybody's vehicles. What a time to be young and alive in the 1980's living the life & partying in Miami & Ft Lauderdale & Hollywood Beach, FL. Awesome music, great beaches with beautiful sun kissed women in brazilian cut bikinis everywhere. Priceless!!!!
