This is a relatively straight forward process!
Having said that there is a risk of damaging your camera so proceed with caution at your own risk!!!
Apologies for the preamble, sometimes I like to have a chat and give context…
Basically by removing 4 screws within the lens mount you are able to remove the IR cut filter that sits in front of of the cameras sensor.
At that point you allow your camera to see a wider spectrum of light.
However you will often still want to restrict the spectrum to get more control over the exact look of your newly IR sensitive camera!
I opted to use filters in front of the lens as this would allow me to choose filtration that cut and transmitted different areas of the infrared spectrum, but you could get a specific replacement for the cameras IR cut filter to drop in that would make it a more ‘semi-permanent’ mod.
But I wanted the flexibility as I want to try different looks without needing to open the camera up.
If you are choosing after the lens filtration you should be adding another piece of glass with the same thickness as the stock IR cut but optically flat. Basically without a piece of glass here it is possible your lenses won’t be able to hit infinity focus… but in the video as I was going to only be close focused for the test I opted not.
