i have purchased 3 INGCO pump control unit and the water tastes and smells like burnt plastic. How do we solve this?

burnt plastic I would guess you ran it dry? if its burnt plastic and you did not run it dry I personally would have sent it back for a different one. if its just a plastic taste just run it through the taste and smell should pass after a while.

I have the same problem, it seems the pump regulates itself automatically which doesn't work with my low pressure pipes so I've just been switching in on and off as needed manually

It's really hard for me to guess the exact fault without bveing there. you'll need to look for the problem. Start at the most obvious like and then move towards the more complicated faults.
