I'll make my pour over and watch someone else twist and twist and twist while I sip and sip and sip. Thumbs up great video!

Me to , I use a Vargo Titanium coffee filter for the pour over and it has never failed me. Easy to use , easy to clean and should last forever.

Brew Buddy. $5, 1oz. Pour-over, cold brew, or tea. Anything more is pretense.

You forgot the cowboy coffee. 😉 It always amazes me how far people will go to have a complicated cup of coffee when the pot you’ll have to bring for boils and food anyways will do. Only instant coffee is lighter, and *that* is past me.

I've been using the pipamoka since March this year. Ernie's review is spot on. The pipamoka brews an excellent cup of coffee, but you have to dial in your grinder to achieve that result. I disagree on the size however. In my opinion 8oz or ca. 2.5dl is a rather big cup of coffee. But being Swiss I grew up in a different coffee-culture. Everyone should drink coffee the way they like it! I for my part have gone back to using a small (4 Italian cups) bialetti espresso maker, same weight, less work.

Don't see the advantage over a French press. Love French press coffee! Still a good review.

Considering size and weight the Jokari press is pretty good although it only makes a decently dark 6 oz cup. I load it twice for a larger size. On the plus side there’s no extra cup.

Thanks for the review Ernie - interesting concept. Don't think it is for me - seems to be too little coffee for the effort - I like about 16 oz at a time also. I am still looking for that perfect espresso maker for the trail that grinds the coffee, packs the pod heats the water, and hands me the result as I climb out of the hammock/tent (since my wife doesn't/won't do it). I guess for the trail I will still stick with my MOKA pot. Somewhat heavy (7 oz for mine) but the espresso that can be made by simply heating the pot over the stove or fire without any other fuss and the ease of getting it ready plus the ease of cleaning up - well, seems to be at least for right now my most liked option. I had been wondering about the Pipamoka as I had read about it - but glad you do what you do in sharing your experience reviews because now I know. - thanks again

I tell ya out of all the home use, on the road, or in the woods coffee gadgets I own, which is a lot, the gsi pourover is hard to beat. The stainless percolator is great when I want to drink a few cups in the evening while reading and family time. Just plop it on the woodstove and let her go. I have finally just gotten rid of the Keurig I can nuke water and french press, aeropress, of pourover in the mornings. I do still have the mr coffee 12 cup for filling the stanley thermos. Another good vid, seems a bit to much with other options on the market. TC and ATB, Cris.

years ago I could buy, from Maxwell House, a "tea bag" of ground coffee, in an air tight pouch. I found these worked very well, with little garbage to hike out. But I haven't seen these in years.

Thanks, Ernie. I've looked at it but want to put my hands on it before I buy one. How does the coffee compare to what you get out of an AeroPress?

What happened to simple cowboy coffee? Or Stanley press which you can use to cook in if you take the press out. Or Primula filter which you reviewed previously. I guess this is ok for glamping, which is fine for some, just not for me.

Basically a takeoff on a French Press-type apparatus which WILL give you a full cup of coffee. (And for a great deal less expense).

16 g of coffee is just not enough, I typically use 25-30 g for a 12 oz cup. I can't believe you prefer this to an Aeropress. It is too expensive, looks like a pain to use and clean and weighs a lot.

In the words of Arte Johnson, "very interesting . . . etc, etc". It does have a built-in cup and lid, but the inability to guarantee completely wetted grounds during brewing is bound to lead to many of the issues mentioned in the review. An Aeropress remedies those concerns -- but you do need a separate cup, and should still press with some deliberation for good results.

Call me "uncouth" if you may, but I'm happy with Community instant. I'd prefer to spend my morning appreciating my surroundings than making a hobby out of coffee. To each their own though, and if that brings you joy then enjoy. 😎

Methinks the doctor is referring to low power needed for rotation than pressing. More control but for old guys like me arthritis makes rotation harder than pressing. All in all great product, great review, has possibilities. It also adds to docs addiction.......

I feel the no power title is a little misleading. You are still carrying the weight of an alcohol stove, fuel, grinder and this machine. I can't see that it offers any advantages over other alternatives. Nice weather there, here it is cold, dark and wet most days. Winter is coming and she doesn't look happy. Take care, to you and all Americans. This month marks the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower arriving in America. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

I will be drinking my coffee from French Press and someone will be still twisting ... It is expensive, not ingenious at all and plastic that will end up in a landfill. What is the point?
