+Mr umar Your kitchen oven will not be anywhere near hot enough. You need at least 2000F heat to fire a pot, a kitchen oven only goes to about 500F max, you need a proper kiln, you could try a raku firing in a metal dustbin maybe.. Thanks, Dan.

Some people have salt pots for cooking much the same way people use sugar bowls. Sometimes they have an accompanying spoon but often people just take a pinch or so with their fingers to sprinkle over whatever or throw into a pot or measure it out with a measuring spoon for baking. not a thing we use so much where I'm from but it's really humid here and leaving the salt out like that would cause it to get all clumpy. I'm sure it's fine in dryer areas of the world.

I use one of these that used to belong to my mum, it sits behind the cooker and is perfect for grabbing a quick pinch or too while cooking, much easier than messing with a plastic lidded pot. However I have seen many modern versions that are glazed, which completely ruins them. The reason these work is that any moisture is absorbed by the porous clay, keeping the salt dry and stopping it from clumping. If you see a glazed version, don't buy it, you will be disappointed!
