IngramSpark COVER with Duplex Printing in Canva for Children's Book

Hi guys! This is a recent video request - how to create your paperback cover for IngramSpark. This includes how to print on the inside of the cover! amylee9223 yes that is true! The inside pages would be the same. But the cover is different in terms of the sizing AND the fact that you can't have printing on the inside of the cover. Sorry for being confusing! I'm not the best with words 🤣

Hi! You can download a cover template from IngramSpark which will include the bar code for you, and you can grab it from there. Here's the link: myaccount.ingramspark.com/Portal/Tools/CoverTemplateGenerator Alternatively, there is a barcode generator app in Canva, so you can plug in your ISBN there and have it generate the barcode for you. Hi! I don't think IngramSpark will add it for you. As far as I know you have to add it yourself.

Also what is your question about blank pages?

@@HeatherCashArt I mean adding blank pages at the beginning, so the first page right after that first flap.

@@GSeverino-l3v whatever you have for page 1 (whether it's blank or has stuff in it), it will be by itself to the right of the spine. Then page 2 & 3 will be next to each other, and then 4 & 5, and so on. Does that help?

And how do you upload the cover files? Are the regular cover AND the duplex/interior cover just one file?

Yes, it is one PDF file consisting of 2 pages. Page 1 is the outside of the cover, and page 2 is the inside of the cover.

When I use procreate (cmyk) and upload to Amazon, I have no issues with format. But when I use procreate (cmyk) and upload to Ingram, I always have color issues. So I'm going to try to put my art work into Canva and save it as cmyk and see if I don't get any error messages

IngramSpark IS extra picky when it comes to the color profile. I haven't done a ton of experimenting with saving through Procreate/Canva/etc since for my project, I did it in Photoshop and just fixed the colors there. But, I did have a client who saved from Canva as CMYK and IngramSpark complained, but it had a thing where you could proceed with caution or something like that, and IS said it would convert the file for you. So she picked that and everything actually ended up ok. At some point I definitely need to mess around with it though because I think it's probably the one biggest thing that's going to trip people up with IngramSpark!

@@HeatherCashArt yes it is a big headache omg!, I was trying to use what I have and what I know how to use but I may have to figure out Photoshop for IS because I didn't like the faded colors for my first book printed through IS and I got that same message "proceed with caution" so

@@hafeezyakubu8119 if it's exactly 8.5x8.5 then it's incorrect. With a book size of 8.5x8.5 your pages need to be 8.625x8.75. Where did you get that template from?

Oh I'm sorry for the confusion, the actual book size is 8.5*8.5, so I had an overall template of 21*12 inches

Something must have changed because I keep going to weight and spine calculator and it's doing to the whole ISBN number every time. So far this is my biggest issue with this company is that I can't even get dimensions without needing this number.
