i feel most at home wherever my fiancé is. it's been hard making my space feel like home since he died last year, though. when he died, i had to move out of our home because i couldn't afford it on my own and i was all alone in a state we had just moved to. i moved back to our hometown, but i wasn't able to take much of our stuff back with me. i just recently moved into my own apartment and i've loved getting to decorate a new space, but it still doesn't feel like home to me. i sleep with one of his pillowcases and that helps. the other morning, a cold front blew in and i had left my windows open the night before in anticipation. that morning, i woke up wrapped in a cocoon of blankets, and for a brief moment, before i opened my eyes, it felt like i was back in our bed in our little apartment in washington heights waking up next to him on a fall morning- and in that moment i felt at home.

I think what makes my space feel most like my home is that it is MINE. I just got out of an awful situation in January where I had to surrender my old apt that I put a lot of time and money into, because my ex had a cocaine addiction on top of showing me his true colors and stopped paying for anything. I lost everything. I am proud to call my new apartment my home because it is mine. I am responsible for it and for myself and who I let in here. You could say that my entire apt is basically how your room is to you. After losing everything, this is my safe haven. I've been watching your videos 7 years, and I love to see how you have ended up and its great to see you so happy. It puts less pressure on me to be a certain way at 25 to see where you are now at your age. You're so inspiring. I hope you really enjoy your new home Ingrid!

What reminds me of home is volcanoes and lush green of plants. I was always in the move for whatever reasons in life, school, renting, bought a house but I knew it was just temporary. The last move, I added plants, started from a little pot of succulent and the collections are growing now. I don't see volcanoes where I live, but so grateful I am now surrounded by rocky mountains. The thing that makes my home feel like home is the control I have over it. I can completely turn it into my safe space and do whatever I want. We just bought out first home as well, and owning over renting is so so lovely. Honestly, right now my space doesn’t feel like home. I’ve been living with my grandfather for 3 years while I’m finishing college. But these past years have forced me to really meditate on what I want my home to be. I want it to be a place that I can go to be alone and feel comfortable. As an artist, I would love to have a space to put up my art because my art is an extension of myself. Also just wanted to say I love your channel. My boyfriend and I and our cats recently moved as well, so it doesn’t feel like home quite yet. But having him and our kitties running around as they get acclimated to the space makes it feel more like home.
