I had a spot way smaller than that on my armpit once and was so fed up with the pain I squeezed it as hard as I could. A clump of talc-like stuff came out, then a small amount of pus and it healed fine and never returned. The relief from removing that small lump was incredible so I can't imagine the discomfort this poor lady was feeling.

I get amazed every time you mention HS. 25 years ago, during the dawn of the internet, I took to the early web to try and find out what was wrong with me skin and if anyone else suffered with the sores and abcesses I did. I found an unheard of condition called HS that fit me perfectly. Printed off the info and gave it to my doc. Thankfully he looked into it and found out all he could as he had other patients like me with this unknown skin problem. Getting that diagnosis was amazing and over the years I have learned to manage it well. But I still remember when it was a mystery and this was a condition no one heard of. Love hearing it talked about so freely and openly and with knowledge!!

Hello, what has helped you with your HS?
@gdtestqueen9 ай бұрын
@@MacD2029 It took ages but I found a routine that helped and worked for me. Everyone is different though. But here’s what I do: 1) Daily showers. Running water seems much better than using a washcloth. 2) Enjo body cloth (Enjo is the company name). I use this and no soap. The materials in the cloth do great at cleaning without any product. 3) Shunga Sweet Snow body powder (by Kama Sutra I think, buy it at adult stores). It’s a very fine drying powder and I apply it after bathing and drying. It doesn’t cake or clog up pores, and it smells great. I have tried other drying powders (sometimes called Honey Dust) but they were all too coarse and caused issues, this one was the best. 4) As the earliest sign of a flare I use an over the counter hydrosone crème on the area. Sometimes I use a soft cotton cloth and tuck it in the areas skin meets to help also. Between the cloth and the powder I actually cleared up a horrible flare up within weeks, and have kept pretty low key for years now. Like I said…this worked for me. It’s not an advertisement, just what I found helped. Hope by sharing it someone else might get some relief.

I have this condition (hidradenitis suppurativa) and it can be VERY painful. I have learned to recognize the signs that I'm about to have a flare-up: my armpit will itch like crazy. I've also learned how to minimize my flare-ups. In the summer, when they are the worst, I literally cover my entire armpit with a large 4x4 adhesive bandage smeared with a layer of Prid salve. It's basically a drawing salve I found at Wal-Mart. I told my dermatologist about it and she said if it worked, keep using it. And it helps draw out the infection when I do have a flare-up. I've also learned that antiperspirants can trigger a flare up,, so I have to be even more diligent about washing/showering.

I don't have HS, but, I do have to regularly pull out hair from the pores in my armpits. Many grow in each pore, and the skin can very quickly grow over them. They get trapped, and as I am diabetic, the pores there are prone to getting blocked, and developing into big abscesses. Sometimes, it can literally happen overnight, or within a space of hours. I used tweezers and a sterile scalpel blade. The blade is to extremely lightly take off the thinnest layer of top skin. It is always very thin, you can visually see the trapped hair beneath. It does not hurt, nor does it bleed, but once that is done, the hair which had started to become ingrown is freed up to pull slowly out. I call it "preening", and I do it every day. Not every pore is plucked, just the ones that become blocked, and have multiple hairs in them. If I fail to do this, it is guaranteed that a pore will become blocked, then swollen. Then, my body seems to go nuts, the pore swells up, and an abscess is the inevitable result. It is a bit time consuming, but better I do that, than need yet ANOTHER round of antibiotics...

Would having the armpit hair permanently removed via laser or other non-invasive measures stop the HS from forming in the first place?
@BerryTrekkin2 жыл бұрын
Laser hair removal can help people with HS, but it doesn’t always work and tends only to be beneficial to those with mild cases. I have mild HS, but it wouldn’t work for me as I have PCOS and laser hair removal is much less effective when you have hormonal issues that promote hair growth. I gave up shaving and went through the pain of getting my underarms used to epilating the hair out. 25+ years later, I have not had one ingrown and the hair that was so thick is now negligible. I cannot even imagine the pain this poor girls was in.

Oh, I feel bad for the patient. I’ve had a cyst before and they are incredibly sore and hurt when you touch it. Great job Doc.

I have the same condition and I was sent to a plastic surgeon. They refused to pop my cyst that I've had for 10 years. So frustrating. Things are much different here in Canada.

I have had HS for the last 7 years. Doctors were unable to even diagnose it correctly for all this time. Until recently I visited a dermatologist who advised me of surgery at the first glance. I got it done and thankfully those big, open and bleeding cysts are gone. Skin has healed. Now he has put me on isotretinoin for Minor outbreaks. I am much relieved after these long years of suffering.

So true, that must of smelled worst then it looked. Wonder if one day technology will let's us do both, look and get a woof? Actually may not be not a good idea, we'd all be walking with our lunch all over the phones. 🤔😋

Just got comfy in bed and a Mr PopZit video pops up! Thank you to both the wonderful patient and Greg for sharing this with us. Edit: Oh wow! She is definitely going to sleep better tonight.
