Great Video, thank you. My first Marathon-what an experience! I am from Canada and have to say New Yorkers are the best, thank you each of you for your encouragement along the route, something that really has to be experienced to be believed!

Thank you for the great video. Even after 12 years still very informative for my marathon preparation, I am a participant in 2023.

I am running it this Sunday 11/6/11. It will be my first marathon ever. This video both pumps me up and intimidates me too. Wow, there is a lot of road there. I have run 20 miles twice in preparation but never 26.2.

This is an accurate video, but what you don't see is the crowds that will be there cheering for you , several people deep in many places. That's what makes all the difference.

@robbyled Hey that sounds great to me. Congratulations! Running a marathon is hard enough without getting attacked by pain out of nowhere. I'll see you at the start line in November. Good luck.

@dddaaaannnnn Not as well as I projected: 4:32. I have run 2 different half marathons at 1:56. I got my ass kicked that day. Started out running slow for me 9:40's which is like a minute slower than my 5K/10K pace with the intention to run faster the second half of the race. By Mile 9, I started getting calf pain for some reason and had to slow it down even more. Don't know what went wrong for me that day but I am not giving up. Still training and will be in it again this year. thx for asking

as a lifelong Bostonian and a 2009 NYC Marathon finisher, I disagree with rbeacons: The NYC Marathon is IN NYC! The "Boston" Marathon has about one mile that's actually in Boston, so who's the imposter? BTW, 43,000+ runners and 2.5million+ spectators make the NYC Marathon the single largest sporting event in the world.
