If the Catholic Church could go back to its beautiful culture, you’d be amazed to see how many people would return to it.
@alahatzaifat18723 жыл бұрын
****************you’d be amazed to see how many people would return to it. I think you would be disappointed... people aren't leaving religion because it lost its 'beautiful culture'... people are growing up, as a species, and realizing there is not evidence that the gods of these various religions exist... therefore, following an institution like this without a foundation in a divinity, especially taking in all the evil done by it and in its name, they are leaving in droves... just like every other religion... the information age certainly has accelerated this, but mankind is becoming more aware and more educated on a whole and religions are relics of our 'infancy'...
@alahatzaifat18723 жыл бұрын
@Hugo ************that's hilarious, you think something as crucial as religion that has been around since the inception of man in every civilized culture across the world is something we will simply grow out of? Not hilarious at all… just look at the data of the religiosity of the world even in the last 100 years… even the last 5-10 years has show a vast exodus from religion. The US, one of the more religious developed countries is now up to about 30% non-affiliated/non-believers… that is a huge jump in this one category in the last 20 years or so… and that number keeps increasing, while xtianity’s numbers are actually going into the negative growth rate… xtianity is shrinking in the US… other countries, such as Canada, the UK, Sweden etc, their numbers are even higher… the catholic church is finding it hard to find your single men to become ordained, in the US, evangelical and protestant churches are closing, due to lack of adherents etc. Even islam, the fastest growing religion has seen a slowing of their forward growth and we see vast amounts of ex-muslims joining the ranks of the nones… You may wish to ignore the data but it is there, nonetheless. *************People already are using surrogate beliefs unintentionally to fill the void religion has left. I've seen many people treat politics and ideology like religion. You are equating the irrational belief in gods with being passionate about other things… this is the argument of a believer, who claims that atheism is a religion… it is as much a religion as off is a tv channel… being passionate about something does not equate to ‘religion’… **************I'm personally an atheist but its ignorant to think this is something we'll simply grow out of. You sure don’t sound like one, since you are using theistic arguments… and I never said it would be simple… but it seems to be heading in that direction. The information age may be what brings religious belief to its knees… but it will take time for society to purge these false ideologies…since they are pervasive in our societies and in our mindset… you cannot get away from these false ideologies… they are always forcibly brought to the fore every once in a while, reminding one and all that these ideologies are harmful and dangerous. More and more people are waking up to this knowledge and more and more are not having it… and leaving the religions they were brought up in. Probably won’t happen in my lifetime, since I’m past 50… but, god willing (pun intended), not too long after…

I'm not a religious person, but I find religious art fascinating: On the image on the left, or Madonna of the Lilies by William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1899), Mother Mary holds the newborn baby Jesus, showing him to the world. To me, her expression shows reverence, or perhaps what seems like a knowledge of what will happen in the future. Her hands seem to barely contain the baby. In stark contrast the image on the right, Pieta also by William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1876), Mother Mary holds Jesus after his death. For me, the image shows such emotion in her eyes and face, the sorrow, the lament of losing her son. The grip of her hands, to me, seems as if she is unwilling to let go. The emotion must be so palpable because William made this painting shortly after the death of his first son Georges who was only 16 years old. Another interesting fact about William-Adolphe Bouguereau: In 1900 Degas and Monet were asked in an interview to name the artist they thought would be remembered as the greatest nineteenth century painter. Their answer was William Bouguereau.

@seal bear St Mark was the first Pope over Egypt in the 1st century, not St Peter over Rome. Rome and Catholicism have always been about war, conquest and politics, and still that's the only thing Catholics speak of; earthly glory. The Orthodox Churches are the oldest in the world in countries like Armenia, Jerusalem, Egypt and Greece. If it weren't for the Coptic Church and people like Athanasius the Great, you might have not been what you are now. Get your facts right because I am tired of your ignorance, people.
@Panda-xd2ub3 жыл бұрын
@Wicked Lester No I'm not dumb, I know that Catholics think so. St Peter's faith being the rock that Christ's church would be built on didn't make him a pope, because being a pope is a hierarchical role. And even if it was was so, why would his role be inclusive to Rome? He did evangelize Rome, and so did Paul, but Jesus didn't call him a Rock in Rome, did he?

Inspired by this divine chorus , I remember a anecdote . To confirm the life and death of Jesus on the cross , Longinusinserted his long spear into flank of Jesus . At that moment , Jesus' blood ran down the long spear and into Longinus' eyes . To his surprise , Longinus' eyesight , which was on the verge of going blind , returned to normal . After that , Longinus was converted , spent his life evangelizing , and was canonized as a Saint . From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵

@@Franco-ez1dg Hi! I want to thank you for your comment. You see, I truly believed that there wasn't one, single bone of prejudice in my body. My parents instilled in me & my 10 siblings that there was no difference in anyone because we are all God's children. I am Catholic and I cherish my faith above everything else in life. However, as I read your comment I found myself thinking: "WoW! You gotta be kiddin' me! Someone who listens to HEAVY METAL actually enjoys "OUR" most beautiful, God inspired music?!?! " I was indeed "surprised" as you said. It was at that moment that I realized there IS some prejudice in me. I was into a LOT of stuff during a part of my life....but I never liked heavy metal. To be perfectly honest I felt evil around me when I heard it...and I'm sorry, but I still get that feeling if I happen to hear it. I even used to go so far as to roll my eyes & sigh if I saw a car w/a heavy metal bumper sticker. Your comment opened my eyes to see how judgmental I was. I'm ashamed of myself. I don't think I would've discovered this sin in me without seeing what you wrote. So "THANK-YOU" Franco! Thank you & God Bless You!

When I look at this painting it reminds me of what the Archdeacon in HoND said "You can lie to yourself and your minions you can claim that you've never a qualm but you never can run from nor hide what you've done from the eyes of Notre Dame (Our Lady)". This means that those who have done malicious crimes and those who are false prophets can NEVER hide their evil from Our Lady, nor can they hide what they have done from Jesus Christ.
