Inisheer (ou Inis Oirr) est la plus petite des îles d'Aran, dans la baie de Galway, en Irlande. Pour ce duo, ma harpe est accompagnée d'un low whistle (joué par mon père qui a commencé l'apprentissage de cet instrument il y a 2 ans). Nous avons filmé cette chanson traditionnelle irlandaise composée par Thomas Walsh au lever du soleil près d'un cimetière de bateaux.

Inisheer (or Inis Oirr) is the smallest and most eastern of the three Aran Islands in Galway Bay, Ireland. For this duet, my harp is accompanied by a low whistle (played by my father who has learned this instrument for 2 years so we can play together). We filmed this traditional irish folk song composed by Thomas Walsh next to a ship graveyard at the sunrise.

The harper was central to the culture, every chieftain's court maintained a harper who was held in high esteem. Even though I love harp music (I have two) and my sister played flute for years, I have a decidedly curious love of this video because of the setting. Decades ago, I galley-chefed on the Great Lakes to work my way through art school, and was on the Edmund Fitzgerald the season before it went down. I used to do two on/two off and went back to art school that season. Quite literally, my art persuits saved my life. I love this video with an odd passion!

J ai achete une Harpe Celtique une Blevins 34 cordes...mais c est difficile de trainer les deux mains pour des mouvements independentes...j ai envie de comprendre les modes...tu est ma Premiere Muse pour l'instrument divin...car la Harpe etait un cadeau de dieu Appllon pour Orphee...ici c est ton admirateur d' Austin, Texas....les meilleurs voeux pour ton enfant, pour toi meme et pour ta famille!

Yes, there are lyrics. I've only ever heard it as an instrumental. I looked on You Tube for Inisheer with lyrics, and a bunch of videos came up. I looked a the one called: "Maurice Walsh sings Inisheer." I've been to the beautiful island of Inisheer a twice. Inisheer is the Irish word for "island." You can take a ferry from the tiny village of Doolin on the West Coast of the mainland. It is one of the 3 Aran Islands in the Galway Bay. There is a Hostel and a couple of B&Bs on the island. Also if you wish to spend time in Doolin, there is a Hostel and B&Bs there too. Most tourists go to the big island, Inishmore where there is a ruined Medieval Fort. Not much action in these 3 islands (the third is Inishmaan) but my favorite is the Pub in the Hotel right next to the pier where your ferry drops off. In summer there is a music session nightly with rousing sing along Rebel songs. It was one of the highlights of my trips to Ireland. I've also been to Inishmore twice, but found the traditional Irish music lacking there. Inisheer is very peaceful, and if you love cows like I do, there are lots.
