Initial setting time batata hai ki cement kitni der tak workable rahega, yani mixing aur placing ke liye available hoga. IS code ke according, ordinary Portland cement (OPC) ka initial setting time kam se kam 30 minutes hona chahiye. Final setting time batata hai ki cement kab fully set ho jayega, yani structure ko load bear karne layak bana dega. OPC ka final setting time zyada se zyada 600 minutes hona chahiye.
