Cool idea, but would have been more interesting if you didn't look into the commit history what changed to find the bugs, but actually had too look through your code. This would make it an actual challenge, not just a slight annoyance :)

It could be a good demonstration of unit tests working. If they fail when bugs are inserted then it's a good sign you're actually testing something.
