H2O V4P0R Simple. When you unlock the abilities for all other characters, any new ability will be for Atom (Unless you don't get them all and there's another character release). Then there's the ability multiverse or open up some boxes.

you can have your AI play and do all the work. All u have to do is click A or X ( depending on which console ) to let your AI move on to the next match.

Making matter is probably the most useless ability I've seen in a while. It replaces his character trait, a really good one, so he can get a completely random interaction.

Atom has terrible damage. He's actually pretty hard to get a ton of damage without doing a large combo with meter.
