I don't think that's what zoning and spamming are. Zoning is using all of your tools to keep your opponent out. Spamming is just using the same move over and over again. This can be grabs, projectiles or normals.

Padraic Gaffney Spamming usually refers to projectiles. If you fall for the same grab or normals over and over again, you have no business playing any fighting game. Zoning is exactly how he described it. Certain characters are useless up close and only have a chance with projectiles.
