Thank you Justine for taking the time to demo and explain these inks. Personally I always thought using the sponge blenders was better than the brushes but in most of the videos I see, they seen to use the brushes. After watching you, I have confidence that my techniques with inks will improve! Thank you and many blessings!

I love the foam blenders, and those are almost always my preference! There are so many tools out on the market, and I think it's important for people to seek out what works the best FOR THEM!

Great video. I'm always afraid to do much ink blending as think I am going to make a muddy mess. So many good tips on how to get the best results. I do like the Oxides better and have all Oxides. Thanks so much for all you taught us today.

Don't be afraid! If you ever have the time, just sit and practice different blends without a specific project in mind. Best case scenario is that you will have elements to utilize for a future card! Worst case, you have found some blends that aren't exactly as you like and tweak them in the future!

I notice than when you did the rainbow blend it looked like you got green onto your blue dome pad. how do you clean this? I have concerns about contaminating my ink pads as well.
@justanotebyjustin2 ай бұрын
Hello! I have a handful of notes on this topic, so it's a great question to ask! Honestly, sometimes this is inevitable when you are blending colors. I don't generally think you need to clean your foam pads, but you should be able to rinse them easily with water. Please just let them dry entirely. Also, an item to point out as well... While I consider the foam blender pads an essential part of my blending game, I also consider them fairly low stakes as well! They are fairly inexpensive in the large scale of crafting investments, and, if on occasion, you find a foam blender needs to be replaced, it shouldn't be too much to worry about. Lastly, the slight color contamination you are talking about, I really only see it being an issue when putting a dark contaminated color into a light ink pad color (Tumbled Glass, Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar and Old Paper are the first colors that come to mind). Beyond that, I don't really see the contamination affecting my colors much.

Justin - how are you storing your domed foam. I have them under the ink pads ( using velcro) but they ink pads don't fit into the storage boxes well - they wobble. Is there a better way?
@justanotebyjustin2 ай бұрын
Hello! I actually have a drawer in my desk dedicated to my foam blending tools (2 drawers, actually). Each tool is designated for each color of Distress Ink and Oxide Ink. I also invested in special storage units for my ink pads that are shelves to store each color in its own compartment. I understand we all do not have the ability to do this. I would say your Velcro method is probably the best thing you can do at the moment, but maybe later look into a new method to store your ink pads that could accommodate for the size? I hope this helps!

You should start off the paper. You wouldn’t get the inner circle.
@maryzulick93692 ай бұрын
You are correct with your comment. You never start in the middle of the paper which is why he is not getting a good blend. Distress Ink is wonderfully blended when done correctly.
@crmuirhead2 ай бұрын
So, what do you do when you only want the ink in the center?
@justanotebyjustin2 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment! I fully agree! However, I thought for the Swatch Process for the video that it made sense to start in the center :)
