Hand sanitizer on acrylic blocks takes off glue or other messy, sticky messes. Also works on silicone to remove glue.

Beautiful. I love the foliage. A small butterfly MIGHT have worked but the dragonfly was too big (imo)! Alcohol should take the sticky off your blocks. If that doesn't work use Goof-Off (apply to cotton ball then wipe block). No home should be without Goof-Off! I'm a big fan of Imperial Cleaner as well! It too should take the sticky off your acrylic blocks. I use Imperial Cleaner in the laundry, to clean cabinet doors, and on and on...! If you (someone in your house) is forced to wear one of those "sticky" paper name tags (used at conventions, etc), they normally leave a sticky residue on your clothes. Imperial Cleaner is THE BEST to remove the sticky residue yet won't harm fabrics! It sounds like I'm advertising Imperial Cleaner (lol)! I promise I'm not! It's just a handy household item that works on anything! It has a unique odor but I promise you won't smell it on your clothes once they're washed! I'm sorry about my book long comment!

I did contemplate this but wasn't sure if that was a good approach. I'm going to try hand sanitizer first since that's been a popular suggestion and then last efforts will be good gone! Thanks for commenting your tip!
@UsernameBarbF3 ай бұрын
@@Jessicavasher I've tried both and I think hand sanitizer works best. You might need to slather it on and let it sit for 15 minutes or so before you wipe/scrub it off. It also works great on paint brushes (can even knock out dried paint if it isn't too clumped up); I've also used it for blending brushes--I put it on and then wipe it off onto paper towels. Because it's sanitizer, it dries almost instantly and you can use that blending brush quicker. (I discovered this when I was using a black bristled blending brush and discovered that I hadn't cleaned it well enough prior to this use; when I stroked it across the cardstock, I ended up with a color that resembled vomit...not what I was planning on! I had to use the sanitizer/paper towel a few times, but I was able to get all the ugly ink combo out and start fresh.)
@Jessicavasher3 ай бұрын
oh that is interesting! You don't notice it gumming the brushes up over time? I might need to try that on some of my oxide brushes to test. Thank you!
@UsernameBarbF3 ай бұрын
@@Jessicavasher I think you're asking if oxide ink had gummed up my brushes? The answer, if that's the question, is that I hadn't gotten around to trying those brushes on oxide inks. Also, I bought the brushes on Amazon as make up application brushes. I saw a video where they were strongly suggested for ink blending, followed that link and bought them. At that time, no card making suppliers were making them but the tip about using make up blending brushes was so huge that I think that's when they got on board. I now tell everyone to be sure to purchase white-bristled blending brushes, not the black-bristled make up brushes because the black makes it so hard to see what colors were used previously. And I'd be shocked if the hand sanitizer did not work to clear your oxide brushes. As a decorative painter, all of us were using hand sanitizer to clean our brushes (and our hands and painting aprons) years before we started making cards. We'd go to week-long painting conventions that consisted of back-to-back classes so we didn't have the luxury of carefully washing our brushes thoroughly each day--hand sanitizer to the rescue! I have even used it to clean spilled black toner ink out of an indoor/outdoor carpet and best of all, I used it to clean burnt orange paint out of my light gray carpet (my dog went upstairs to my craft room, selected a 2 oz bottle of DecoArt burnt orange paint, took it downstairs to sit by my husband and then squirted the entire bottle out onto the carpet as he proceeded to chew the bottle! I got up as much of the paint as I could with paper towels, then saturated and paper towel-absorbed the rest many times to get all of it out.) THE IMPORTANT THING AFTER USING IT ON CLOTHES, CARPETS, ETC., is to be sure to rinse it with water to get rid of the flammability of it on those things. I'd be really interested to know if it works on your oxide gummed brushes! Good luck!
