Im a former stampin up demonstrator. I still use those dye inks. I have oxides too. The distress inks used to be for "distressing"!

@Amy's Wares • Amy: This was a great comparison video. The side-by-side comparisons of the inks really showed their different qualities. Thank you for taking the time to do this comparison. Your advice on foam versus bristle applicators & foam versus felt ink pads was also helpful. 👍

Such a nice explanation! 👏 I’ve used foams for Distress Oxides since the first Oxides came out - they’re my favorite inks for blending and I see them as velvety. I switched from flat Ranger foams to Ranger’s newer domed foams, and although blending was 100% fine with flat foams, the ease using the domed foams made my jaws drop. (I also tried another brand’s domed foams and they were a bit less soft than Ranger’s, “scratchier” for lack of a better word. I also don’t like blending with brushes, though part of that is some arthritis in my hand/old minor injury. I can’t get comfortable no matter how they’re held. But if I want the lightest touch in the universe I use Tim Holtz “lipstick” brushes or Clarity’s, but very very rarely.

Great info! Thank you! D.O's and CP inks are my go to's as well. I have found the same thing with using brushes and D.O inks. When I stamp with my CP inks and am using a misting, I will often(especially if it's a sentiment) ink my sentiment then use a blending brush on over the ink sentiment. I find that it helps avoid blotchy spots or over saturation. ❤

Due to 2 types of arthritis I can't use the type of brushes you do. I can use the types that I can grip with my whole hand or with multiple fingers. Because of this, blending isn't the main part of my creating. Love your cards and watching you creating.

I'm so sorry to hear about the arthritis. I have other friends that also really struggle with ink blending for that reason. Have you looked at all into using gel plates for blending? I know my friend Al who is a wiz with the gel plate uses hers a lot when her pain is flaring. She does a short every Monday about ideas with Gel Plates. Here's a link if you want to check it out. www.youtube.com/@AlisonHeikkila/shorts My friend Ardyth also get's some great blends with ink pads and her gel press. Hope that helps! Have a great week!

Thank you for a really well done, functionally useful comparison of these ink types! I never gave thought to the difference between the types of ink pads themselves…. have even bought felt ones that seemed dry from the outset. Now I am thinking they were just old! You totally got me hooked on CP inks (and getting reinkers with all my inks), and I love the rich colors! Terrific video…definitely passing the link along! Happy Weekend! 🧑🏼‍🎨😀👍🏻👍🏻

Very informative video, Thank you! I wish someone would do a COLOR comparison video on different ink brands. It may be a hard task to take on, but I have mainly stampin up inks and have just a very few of another brand ink. I would love to see a comparison video of what inks in stampin up compare to another brand as far a color match? Hope that makes sense. So if I have a certain color in stampin up and it has a color match in another brand, I would avoid buying that same color in the other brand. I kinda wish I hadn't bought just all SU inks when I began, but you live and learn, right? Nothing wrong with them, just want to branch out a little more

Yea that would be nice to have that for sure. Maybe do a search in KZbin or Google for su comparative ink colors? I don't have SU otherwise I might be able to help you. Thanks so much for watching and for the note!

Have you seen the wide ones from Altenew? I think those have helped people with arthritis. Also, you can use a brayer and ink pads on a gel plate as another option for blending that I know some friends will do when their pain is bad. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching.
