Thanks. I've used Carbon Black for years in fountain pens and been completely satisfied. Your experience with the Chou Kuro rules it out for me --- especially since it's absurdly priced!

Carbon black is fantastic, Heaven knows why they thought they could improve it!

3:50 How does Chou Kuro spread across distilled water? That is what they suggest is used for cleaning, instead of tap water.

I will need to try and see! I used to use distilled water but it made some of the inks behave in ways I didn’t like (they didn’t spread as well) so I now use spring water, but that is a very interesting question and I will experiment!

Thank you for this long complete review. I was thinking of switching to the new ink for line work under watercolor. Clearly that would have been a mistake. You saved me from a lot of frustration.

I love your metal nib holder. Where did you get it from?
@arcanaverte24 күн бұрын
@@giubin Thank you! It's an antique Victorian one I found in a flea market in Paris a number of years ago 😁 It's always worth looking in junk shops and markets for gems like this, often you'll get them at a bargain price because people don't know what they are.

Hi😊. Can I use Carbon black with dip pen nibs? (nibs like brause b361/hunt 101/Nikko G or Zebra G/Crow quills and other nib... I use nibs for drawing and I want to try carbon black or cho kuro. What is your opininon about matching these inks with drawing nibs? Thank you.
@arcanaverteАй бұрын
@@OmideFardaa You can definitely use it with a dip pen (any dip nibs) you'll see at the end of this vid, I use carbon black with a very fine vintage nib in my dip pen. in using Cho kuro in a dip pen - wash your nib often while you work as the pigment is very large and sticky and clogs up a pen fast if it builds up and dries on your nib.
