All commenters are right, but what a hell religion have to do with a song was written in a continent was abused by different religions. Ot was it composed by a Jewish composer? Celebrate with your own music, if you have any!

Music is truly an International medium that transcends barriers, borders, and connects people on a very spiritual level. It calms, slows down the World for a time, which is badly needed.

Certain instruments connect us spiritually to others and Mother Earth. I find the native drum, made out wood and elk hide when beat at at the beat of heart grounds one to the Earth and connects one to spirits from both the plant world and the animals native to North America. Even to the spirit of a creek, a river, a pond, a lake, and Ocean. I spent a week in a retreat at Esalen Institute, south of San Fransisco. The course I choose was Healing via the Shamanic Drumming Circle, which deals with Spiritual Healing using the Native Drums and a flute. I experience having my mind/body turned into a semi hypnotic state like a very deep meditative state by the beat of a drum played from one foot up one side of body around my head, then down the other side to my other foot. This experience left me totally relaxed, very centred, as if I had been in a deeply relaxing meditation. I practice Transcendental Meditation since 1977; I know how I feel after a very focused, deep meditation. This was same state, being submersed in the drum beat from a native hand held drum. My heart slowed down to the drum beat; my mind cleared, no noise from the out side World. I was totally centred, grounded in the moment to my space in the drumming circle. With in 3 days I could hear a beat coming from deep in side the Earth. At this centre their is a natural hot spring, a conduit to bring an energy into this space which affected every one. It was like being stoned in a way; a state of very deep mind/body relaxation. This was a very spiritual space, having being a campsite for 4500 years, carbon dating artifacts found on site. Native Indians, travellers from the sea have been in this space for much longer having a fresh water creek running through the grounds, and giant sequa spruce trees growing along the creek. This was a special healing space, a long before white people knew of this place. My meditations were deeper than before; my awareness of subtle energies coming from the trees, the creek, the large rocks brought here by the Glaciers. All I can say further; go to the Institute and participate in drumming healing circle. Carol, one of the facilitators was a Shaman from the Cherokee traditions and her husband was also a train Shamanic Healer. On one session, her husband picked up a beat from getting up early and going for a walk. He played the beat on his flute and we were to play our drums to his flute. Let's say my drum beat was a bit off and I lost my drum. The golden lining, of this event, I got to close my eyes, follow the drum beats and flute music to a very hypnotic state into a spiritual state of being were I was connected to the animal spirits who where very much present in that space. This trance state is similar to what a Native Healer experiences while healing a member of her or his community. To find the route reason, for the symptoms, their patient is experiencing. The drum is part of the healing process; the Shaman rides the drum beat into the spirit World. When there is a disconnect from the persons animal spirit and themselves, sickness may result and the physical symptoms experienced by the patient is a result of a loss of the protective animal spirit due to lack of acknowledgement of this connection by the sick person. Like all relationships, they need to be acknowledged and cared for. This is more than I intended to say; I needed to draw on my life experience to deeply expressed the importance of connective state of the healing energy given by the playing of the drum and the flute which the mind/body directly responds too, naturally. Music along with expressed movement is important emotionally, physically, and mentally.

"El Cóndor pasa" is the authorship of Peruvian composer and musicologist Daniel Alomía Robles (1871-1942). Paul Simon wrote the lyrics in 1970 and re-launched it with the title "If I Could". Peru has beauty even in stones.
