Checkout videos by good musicians who use loopy pro like DUB FX. He actually shows how he uses loopy Pro. He is one of the best for using live looping for performing.

So a question I have is: do you think that Loopy might become a viable alternative to the 505 (mkI & mkII) in terms of "normal" music making and in terms of battling capabilities or will the 505 still be the way to go for professional loopers?

who knows. I'm not setting the rules, but core principles of looping are identical between Loopy and 505. So why not?

I think there is space for both in the scene - though long term I do think more professionals will end up on loopy pro. RC 505 just seems too locked into its particular workflows and if you are trying to do something outside of that paradigm then you get stuck. That and there is a massive build quality inconsistency in the RC 505 that the community at large hasn’t fully clocked onto yet and as more users get burned with dodgy units I think more people will drop the rc 505 - but that’s just my opinion

One big difference is that Boss/Roland is a huge company with tons of employees and a big marketing budget. They can much more easily react to the scene and partner with live events. For something similar to happen in the Loopy Pro community the users would have to make it happen and keep it alive.

just my two cents, but there's just no comparison. If you take the time to setup loopy, rc-505 is literally nothing in comparison. (might want to get controllers like the FCB1010 by Behringer though *or choose your flavor*, for example, but if you do get some control surfaces RC-505 simply cannot compete IMO). I do have to state I do NOT own the 505, I have the rc-300 *which pales twice as hard in comparison*, but my understanding is the RC-505 is not much more other than "a better" RC300 (definitely a much better one, but still nothing in comparison to Loopy Pro. To begin with, if you go for 505, you're super limited in "tracks" whereas with Loopy Pro the limit is your iPad's limitations (far better than RC-505's amount of tracks most probably, at least if you have a "recent" ipad)). You might want to check out Dub FX's video on it, he has 505 and said he was replacing it with Loopy PRO (just in case you want a more objective and detailed comparison - since he owns the thing you specifically ask about and made a video that's around an hour long). Sure, there's always the "brand factor" as stated by Live Loopers, but realistically... this should be the least relevant point IMO. Good musicians would be able to make more out of Loopy than out of the 505 (that is, with the same amount of experience in both platforms).

@@EnriquePage91 i use both rc505 mk2 and loopy pro, they both have their advantages and disadvantages. RC has more usefull effects, and the output effects routing is so good. Its not impossible to achieve the same output effects on loopy, but requires a lot more work. For these reasons I use both :)

Awesome video bro. I want to know, do you have an improv/jamming template ? Or do you exclusively build templates for tracks? As you know I’m building a mini beardytron style looping system with loopy pro, and always found the RC 505 (mk 1 & 2 ) to be a poor option for this, whereas loopy pro is amazing for it, and once deeper audio routing comes in (bus to bus sends) it will 100% replace ableton for me

I thought the video was about loopy Pro, but seems to be about random apps. That's ok but I was looking for a detailed tutorial on loopy pro The title is confusing. Maybe it should called random apps hosted in loopy Pro. Also if cloud storage is one of the things that you enjoy most with your favorite synth FRMS, why don't you have anything stored?
