I loved this novel. Was one of the books we used for Zulu literature in grade 10 in Zimbabwe. We also used bamngcwaba ephila, which is poetry. Black boy, from USA, by Richard Wright, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, Things fall apart by Chinue Achebe from Nigeria.Down Second Avenue by Ezekiel Mphahlele, from SA.My young sister used IMVU yolahleko.

@@mthunzimhlongo660 “Chinua Achebe was a Nigerian novelist, poet, and critic who is regarded as a central figure of modern African literature. His first novel and magnum opus, Things Fall Apart (1958), occupies a pivotal place in African literature and remains the most widely studied, translated, and read African novel. Along with Things Fall Apart, his No Longer at Ease (1960) and Arrow of God (1964) complete the "African Trilogy". Later novels include A Man of the People (1966) and Anthills of the Savannah (1987). In the West, Achebe is often referred to as the "father of African literature", although he vigorously rejected the characterization.”

To put in context this story is written from the farm life of Northern KZN back then, these included Nyanyadu (which is said a lot here), Anville, Annieville etc and the closest towns are Dundee(Umzinyathi), Dannhauser(Danayosi) and Newcastle which is the biggest in modern times. The story is so true because that is exactly how people from there really lived, before their were predominantly changed to be coal mines, and the main source of living change to the coal mines in the 3 listed towns. (Just knowledge I got from Dad, he grew up there) The zulu spoken here is accurate but the accent and pronunciation is very off due to maybe the actors their might have used 🤷🏿♂️.
Yes the part about the actors is true. There are actors such as Lillian Dube, Juliet Mazamisa who were Sotho-first-language speakers in this production

I like this isiZulu. It is proper. How they pronounce the th as in Themba - they keep the tongue away from the upper teeth. Most people especially young isiZulu speakers keep the tongue close to the teeth.

Ndebenkulu is a smart one. He started his shit with Themba and Themba quickly neutralised him. He did the same with maNtuli and maNtuli quickly showed him the door. Ndebenkulu now realises that he won't win with those two. Now he quickly notices that Mkhwanazi is fond of him so he sees it as his weakness.
