EXCELLENT tip to use embossing ink to help the re-inker adhere to the gel plate. I’ve not seen re-inker used as a medium for mono prints before. Super excited now to try this with my collection of dye-based re-inkers! Thanks, Simon.

I’ve only ever used acrylic paints on my gel press, so thanks for the all cool ideas! I want to try using inks now. One thing I like to do with my brayer after painting with it is to clean the brayer off by using blank pages in an art journal. I deposit the excess paint onto this pages so there’s virtually no wasting paint and it creates cool page backgrounds at the same time.

I recently saw a video with a lady using sprays on the gel press. The spray was beading up, just like the reinker did. She used a thin layer of gel medium on the gel press & then the spray was nice & even, didn’t bead up at all. I wonder if the gel medium would work for the reinkers as well. You did have a great tip to try the embossing ink, but maybe the gel medium would be another option. I love the backgrounds you created & the cards turned out wonderful. The little kitten stamp is adorable, & I love the butterfly cards too. Thanks Simon for sharing such great ideas!

Hi, Simon - I think this is one of your very best videos. You are on your game here, mister! I loved the swirly ferns ones (early in video) and I loved the "hugs" heart, the "petals" background (very soft and muted) -- you added a cat to the front of it and I am sorry, but I don't like the cat's dark mouth, but I love the background. The butterfly also looks fab. I think I got as much from this as I did from Jennifer McGuire's video on gel presses. I have now put a gel press in my cart and I love that BM heart die set.
