Being familiar with Inkscape, I really liked the fast-paced run-through and not having to sit through the handling instructions, for example, "click...in the menu and go to... then you'll see in the panel on the right.. click and hold the slider to adjust..." etc. This streamline approach is refreshing and a great time-saver for intermediate Inkscapers. Thanks!

Being not so familiar with inkscape, Ive watched all the beginner videos but Im still unsure how to create a path with that many nodes using the bezier tool, any chance I could get some insight?
@wispsprojects11204 жыл бұрын
@@tylerellis6664 With the bezier tool you basically create a node with each clikck, then the tool connects it to the last one. To complete the shape you either click on the very first node, or simply right-click (this results an incomplete shape you can continue to draw later if you want). So you can have pretty much as many nodes as you want.

if the part of intersec the first black lines does not work for you, try duplicate the circle and not the bezier curves

Good tip, thanks for sharing! I've noticed the path operations ( Path > Difference, Union, Exclusion) can be a little difficult to get the hang of at first. Watching different peoples methods and testing them out for yourself is a good way to gain confidence using them.

@@tetedanco If the objects are grouped, the path functions like union, difference, etc.. will not work. Even a single object or path can be converted into a group. It sometimes helps to right click on an object and go to Object Properties. Check the object ID, it will tell you if the selection is a group, path, text, etc...

Thanks so much for the tutorial. I tried to recreate your watermelon but had problems with the Bizier tool. The problem I am having is that my lines are straight, with no curvature. The more I try, the more jagged they look. What can I do to change that? Thanks again.
@TJFREE4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ezzy, good question! I'm not sure why they are drawing straight. After its drawn, you should be able to go into the 'Edit Paths by Node' (F2 shortcut key) and left click and hold on a line in the path to bend or arc it. You might also play with the settings along the top while in the Bezier tool to see if anything there makes a difference.

TJ FREE My husband, observe my steps, and saw that I was holding down the right key. I corrected my error but I continued to find that I was making more errors. I think it would help me if I had a copy of the watermelon you created. I tried to download it, but I could not. I also asked someone who has a master's in computer forensics, and they could not. (that made me feel good). Thanks again for all the work you do. Would it be possible for me to download a copy of the watermelon?

Unable to understand the logic behind duplicating the circle before intersecting.Can anyone tell me why we did this
@brahminaburgess45184 жыл бұрын
When you intersect you loose both the objects you use in the intersection, so you duplicate so you can have one for the intersection, and the other to remain in your drawing.

It's because there is a mistake in the video. In the 1:22 he is duplicating the circle, not the path. And the comment is wrong: It should be "select the new circle (duplicated, on top) and the path, and then intersect". This way it works

Compared to its adobe counterpart, inkscape is faster and simpler, my favorite feature is that editing paths is much easier and less confusing compared to AI's one million tools for editing paths. The only downside of inkscape for me is it doesn't have AI's equivalent to shape builder tool. Union, intersect, combine, division etc are really suck and not so practical especially when you are working with a rather complex design.
