@ 10:30 where you used linked offset funtion, mine kept acting weird and the node appeared on the right side of the can and didnt work the same. I then tried "inset" and ctl+shift and it worked. any idea why?

+diederrr I had the problem in the past when I was using a slower computer and Windows, so it could possibly be the computer not having enough memory for it (not sure why though, it seems like a rather simple task) or Windows, or both.

mine too! instead of evenly getting smaller, it got narrower but taller. Brand new iMac here... I wonder if the difference is dynamic offset vs linked offset. I may have been clicking shift instead of control...

But why did you make the rectangle's corner sharp when it used only to create the reflection effect? The corners didn't have any importance in this case.

Hello Nick, first many thanks for your great tutoriels, as a game developper i'm very grateful with with this great study materials...I have one small problem which is driving me crazy...When you draw the rectangle with the bézier tool how did you manage to fill the rectangle with the red colour!!! Everytime i select the bézier rectangle and hit the red colour, it changes only the colour of the rectangle leaving the interior blank ???!!!!

For anyone who is having the same problem as me, the tutoriel was made in Inkscape 0.48, and i was using Inkscape 0.91, and somehow Inkscape decided to add the Power strocke effects to all Path by default which consequently gived a weird fill aspects to my beziers contours...Workaround : 1. SELECT YOUR BEZIER COUNTOUR 2. Go to PATH -> REMOVE PATH EFFECT

+g1rhines No I didn't design them. It's a custom icon set for Linux called Numix. I downloaded it from the Noobslab website. Great place to find themes and icons for Linux.

+Donone Yes, you certainly can edit eps files with Inkscape. You can even edit Illustrator files with Inkscape if you're using Linux.

10:50 isn't working for me for some reason .. whenever I press control and try to move it down it has a weird lip at the top which ends up going over the top of the can, no idea how to stop that happening.. literally followed everything perfectly throughout the video too :(

Hi Nick, thank you for this video, I use Inkscape 0.91 and I have drowned this battle but I can’t save it as a PDF or PNG file, My other figures is saved, Is there another way to save like this battle figures?

I'm not sure about pdf but you can save it as a png by going to file -> then export png image or (Shift+ctrl+e); afterwards at the right side you should see [export as] and[ export]. Export as is the directory where you want to store the image so click it then choose the place you want to put it in and once you are done click the export button with the green check mark.
