Thanks for doing this! This information is so helpful! I did a partial plan using all the information from your tutorials and I am certain my angles are off but this will help immensely. I was unaware of how many ways there are to manipulate and use the guides so I will be using this tutorial a lot. Thanks again for your help.

Very useful this video. It seems Inkscape is more for graphic design than CAD or technical drawing but the guides will be very handy for the latter. Thanks keep up the good work.

You make it seem so simple. Thanks.

I was hoping this program had guides, I used to use them heavily in Corel. Darn no pivot. I will miss that.

Hi, you are great helping me beginning for Inkscape. Can you tell me where did you download the card templates?

Very interesting tutorial TJ ; ) many thanks. Can I just ask a question please? ..................... I know you didn't actually touch on creating circles, but as I've been 'playing about' with InkScape I know that when drawing out a circle it goes from corner to corner to size that circle. But how do you find the centre of that circle? as I want to align the centre of the circle accurately onto my guide-line cross-hairs. Thanks for you time. TURK

Good question. Objects can be aligned along there center using the Align & Distribute dialog. When drawing circles, holding the Shift key also lets it be drawn from the center, instead of from corner to corner. Hope that helps!

Thanks for all your videos. I'm glad I found them! Regarding the guides, can you change the page ruler to inches instead of pixels? I hope I'm making sense. 🤷♀️ Thanks for any help
@TJFREE4 жыл бұрын
Hi Darcy. Yes, it can be changed under File > Document Properties > Display Units (in the top right corner)

I'm guessing you can center the guide on the page like illustrator using the align panel.

Hi, I'd like to know how to inspect an object, to see what kind of object it is. I'd also like to know how I can change the font that Inkscape uses in its user interface (eg on buttons, menus etc) because the one being used is compressed and only readable with a magnifying glass. I'm using macOS. Thanks TJ. Connor.

Can you please help.. just wanted to know how to slice an object using guides.

Coming to this in 2022, Inkscape's snap feature is hidden behind an arrow in the top right corner (windows 10). Thanks for the tutorial. Inkscape seems so unintuitive to use -_-

You can remove the guide by dragging it away from the inkspace drawing area.

Hello ! Thank you for all you do! About the ruler on the left side on the screen, it drives me crazy. Lol I changed the rulers to inches and the top ruler is fine . But the left ruler is all messed up like for example 8882488. Is there a easy fix for this? Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, actually I have another couple of questions. I have a pdf of a shipping label which I've opened in Inkscape to create a new design (retaining the original barcode and logo). When I save it back to a pdf, the company logo disappears and the 2-D barcode is replaced by a blackish rectangle. Any idea what is going on? What do I need to know to fix this? Thanks TJ, Connor.

Hi Connor. I'm not exactly sure, but I recommend converting the pdf to an image first.
