I admit, there were points, seeing this movie at the Waverly, in Greenwich Village, that I wasn't at all sure what to make of it, and my attention flagged. Then something would happen and my blood froze. It's hard to follow Lynch at times. He likes it that way. He never wants us to fully understand what's happening. Because really--when do we ever? Reality is far too deep for our shallow litlte minds. The ending--man. This is how I interpreted it. Nikki Grace died. But was reborn in a new realm of the mind, where all the suffering souls of the world could find peace and joy--and power. Their very own Inland Empire.

David lunch is the type of filmmaker that doesn’t hold the audiences hands and gives them straight and simple answers for us to understand.
