I admit, there were points, seeing this movie at the Waverly, in Greenwich Village, that I wasn't at all sure what to make of it, and my attention flagged. Then something would happen and my blood froze. It's hard to follow Lynch at times. He likes it that way. He never wants us to fully understand what's happening. Because really--when do we ever? Reality is far too deep for our shallow litlte minds. The ending--man. This is how I interpreted it. Nikki Grace died. But was reborn in a new realm of the mind, where all the suffering souls of the world could find peace and joy--and power. Their very own Inland Empire.

David lunch is the type of filmmaker that doesn’t hold the audiences hands and gives them straight and simple answers for us to understand. Instead he lets madness unfold and leaves us to interpret the meaning of his work for ourselves, and I for one think that makes him one of the absolute best film directors ever for that.

This is the typical excuse, being so lazy to try to comprehend the puzzle that is this movie. This movie actually MAKES SENSE, and it's not that hard, I mean yeah, it's much harder than Mulholland Drive, but it still has an argument and it still transmit a message. So yeah, don't go saying "Don't try to understand" because that my friend, it's just the same as to say "I'm so dumb and lazy that after seeing this nonsense, I'll clap and say it's a masterpiece that you shouldn't try to understand it".
