Great video. I've put 5500 miles on my V11, it's a very reliable machine. It's well balanced across the board as a smooth commuter that offers just enough performance, comfort, and utility for novice riders. The pedal height makes it a little hard to learn on, but anyone with balance can adapt to it quickly. My only gripes about the V11 are the amount of time it takes to disassemble and change the tire, and the fact that almost every V11's tail light dies out after a few thousand miles. It's a lovely upgrade from any ebike.

Luke, this was a really awesome and helpful video, mate. Thank you so much. Curious what city you've been using the V11 for commuting? I'm in Wellington, NZ (very, very hilly and windy), and I think your video convinced me to get a new V11 rather than trying to seek out the newer V11Y. It seems the tawdry orange highlights and higher price tag aren't offset by enough benefits/improvements to warrant putting up with those drawbacks. Thanks again, mate!

Top speed I got to was just under 37 a couple times, going downhill. Usually max speed is around 34 because tilt back is pretty aggressive

I have over 10k miles on my V11. I haven't had a single issue. My only complaint is range. I would have been more interesed in the V11Y if the battery was bigger. Thats all it really needed.
@jackskelington195 ай бұрын
For the head light issue. Could you slightly cover the front lamp or use a plastic clear fliter to difuse the light? Also question. I heard v11y doesnt have a speaker and no option for sound wave anymore like the v12 had. Is that true? I love the sound wave as it gives me feedback on how hard I'm pushing or leaning on the wheel and I feel it keeps me in check.
@lukewarming5 ай бұрын
Good ideas! No idea, but could work. Yes - No speaker on v11

I totally agree about going for wheels that don't draw attention - I like that I can wheel my Nikola+ around the supermarket or a coffee shop and no-one cares. I liked the original V11 but was a little bit put off by the high pedals and the potential fragility of the "saddle" plastic in crashes etc. Is the V11Y stronger in this area? Any idea what sort of range I could get if riding at 20-25mph (I weigh 96kg).
@lukewarming7 ай бұрын
Saddle seems to be quite a similar design but slightly harder plastic. So I'd guess it wouldn't do great in big crashes. I also think the saddle is pretty cheap to replace though. Mileage between the two feels about the same to me. I regularly ride about 20-25 miles at close to top speed most of the way, and i have about 20% charge at the end of the day. But because wind resistance grows as the square of speed, and most of the battery energy is going into pushing wind, you'll get quite a bit further at those speeds.

The point of the cut off of the top of the light is to avoid blinding oncoming vehicles. Car and motorcycle headlights are the same, even high end bicycle lights have the horizontal light cut off.
@lukewarming5 ай бұрын
I know. The point im making is they dont work on unicycles which change their tilt quite a bit, and blind people intensely on braking. A more diffuse light would blind people less

I didn't notice any tilt back while I'm over speeding my V11 sometimes. It just beeps and stays behind me, so I immediately know it has been overpowered. Also, V11y with this orange straps looks awesome in my opinion not as boring as v11, but it is just me.

Yes speed limit is fully unlocked. Max speed in app is 37mph. There is no "fancy mode" on the V11y.

I had inmotion analyze my trip data and they confirmed that the tilt backs I mentioned were how they designed it.
@WeiFinder7 ай бұрын
Why would they lie about the speed being higher? Kind of a crummy thing to do.
@lukewarming7 ай бұрын
I think the deal is that it's technically true if you ride the v11 in normal mode, not "fancy mode." I also think the tilt back on the v11 in fancy mode probably isn't aggressive enough as it should be for safety (why some people were getting high speed cutouts, and why I'm probably too easily able to get up to 37 on it). Vs v11y top speed really is 37. And in practice more like 35 with occasiona 37s

I agree with the old V11 having a lot going for it and it would have been better if they had simply transfered all of that to the improvements of the new model. The euc world seems to want to just do whole new designs all the time rather than refining existing ones which Is a mistake in my experience, its how you turn a decent product into a stellar one.

Desperate to find an answer to these questions… 1. Can you put the V11Y pedals on the V11 ? 2. Can you put the V11Y pedal brackets on the V11 ? If not, can you put the V11Y sliders on the V11 (which would allow you to put the Y pedal brackets)? I own a V11 and overall, that’s my only gripe (pedal height). Thanks :-) !

So basically, it's the same wheel- with a few add-ons. Using a few parts that everyone in the community is already making. Just like all the "new" Inmotion wheels...smh. I guess it's a good way to get rid of old stock. Bob Yan left, so did Inmotions soul. The V13 didn't blow us away, and he left. Now they just copy. The V14 is basically a Begode wheel. It seems they've absolutely given up....smdh
