You really shouldn't ride an EUC without power pads.... The only way to have proper control over the wheel is to use good pads. The Inmotion branded pads you received (but did not use) would have helped a lot, but they are pretty bad compared to most aftermarket power pads (tons of companies made them). Riding an EUC without pads is like riding a bike with no hands... sure you can do it, but it severely limits your capabilities

Would you apply this advice to a wheel like the V8S?
@jaredboulderterry3912
@jaredboulderterry3912 Жыл бұрын
I would say comparing it to riding a bike with no hands is extreme. I've had pads fall off and I was still able to ride it well off road. More squeezing needed tho
@Energieko
@Energieko Жыл бұрын
@@whyknot172 I learned how to ride on a V8F (1200 miles) and now I have a V12 (700 miles). I use power pads on the V12 and I'm comfortable going 25-35 mph. At speeds slower than 22 (V8S) in my opinion you do not need pads. Pads allow you to have more control and confidence over the wheel accelerating and braking. Slower wheels do not need them. Even on V12, I have a relaxed riding style and I do not rely on locking my legs into the pads. At higher speeds, unexpected bumps or holes in the road can give you airtime where your feet leave the pedals and your heart skips. These are the times I've been thankful to have pads just above my toes so that my foot placement can never shift too far if I bounce. Pads can also add a lot of bulk to an otherwise very sleek and sexy commuter wheel that's easy to tote around. With bigger, heavier wheels like the V12, pads offer a whole lot more for the real estate they take up stuck on the sides. Good luck!
@patc2515
@patc2515 Жыл бұрын
@Jared Boulder Terry nah he's pretty accurate with that comparison.. you can absolutely do both but the reality is, without being fully connected up the entire leg on both sides with constant contact, you really do lose a ton of control and maneuverability. Its not even an opinion. I can turn on a bike with no hands by leaning, sure no problem, but with my hands on the handle bars, the speed in which i can turn and the sharp tight responsiveness of the turn where I'm in full contact is night and day better than when not on complete contact. Its not a stab at anyone, its not a ridiculous thing for them to say either. Why anyone who truly what they are doing on an euc would choose not to use pads is really beyond me. Why would anyone opt for lowering stability, control,and comfort when the solution brings zero downsides, zero trade offs. Makes no sense

Sure, if you're 80 lbs you might need power pads. No adult male needs pads, especially on a 16" wheel with abundant torque.

For this class of EUC it's a really good idea to gear up: full face helmet, Flexmeter wrist guards (essential), Leatt Dual Axis knee/shin guards, and some kind of upper body armor. If you check out the EUC forum, you can find too many examples of what happens without protection. The Inmotion V13 leaves the V12 in the dust (and hopefully won't be plagued by the cutouts V12 owners were experiencing), with an insane 57 mph top speed. Personally, I think that's too fast.

very good beginner video! I love that you actually installed the pads, at v12 speeds they need to be included and it's a safety feature

great video, Just some personal recommendations. When lifting it, use your other hand under a pedal or that round section under the middle of the pedal, to help you. And tire pressure is EVERYTHING on this EUC. Do not use it as a CST or ChaoYang or Kenda or similar tires. That is a very common mistake with this EUC. The Cordial tire of V12HT is way different and should be used at about half of the normal pressure of previous EUC tires for similar wheel. Otherwise you will miss suspension. The V12HT hub (rim) is also reinforced. So no issues there neither. Settings do result in very different output. Keeping feet well centered is a must since this is a well weight balanced design, you get better control and lesser wobble that way. Tire pressure and correct settings for your style is key. I recommend "commuting" with lesser than 30% of pedal sensitivity, speeding on 30% and braking at 70% for normal use. To save some energy, increase seed control and face extreme slopes, I change to "offroading" with 70% pedal sensitivity and increasing Speeding to 60%. No suspension on this EUC means you do have to set properly the tire pressure and never lock your knees but it also means a more responsive vehicle since nothing dampens your subtle changes in weight. Thanks for your video and ride safely 😉

Hey Ben! The tire pressure looked too high for your weight, hence the lack of comfort and kind of twitchy steering experience. The tire itself on the HT has a much harder carcass compared to a typical EUC tire, which can be compensated by lowering the pressure. At 4:42 super important to secure these screws with new blue loctite by the way! They will work themselves loose otherwise.

You have wrong power pads, V12 has different ones which locks your legs and it is awesome. I put 1200km in 2 months on mine V12 HT and it is really good with the power pads. My top speed is 59,5km/h but it can easily sustain 57km/h - awesome for long commute :D. I live in 2nd floor without elevator so the weight is not the best, but in these days most of the EUC's are even heavier...

It's so strange the V12 doesn't have suspension while the V11 does. I feel like the V12HT would be the perfect first wheel for me under $2000 if it had suspension. Now I'm torn between the V11, V12HT, or saving up more for a V14 Adventure, but that definitely means waiting longer.

There is no need to remove the pedal axes to lower them down. You just need an allen wrench of the right length.

Can’t say I’d recommend this review video. I and a few other experienced riders recommend this as a great beginner wheel. 37 isn’t all that fast once you been riding. It’s really not that heavy either if you have some strength. Also the pedals were set to the lowest so naturally the leverage is less when trying to turn which makes the wheel feel heavier. A good review should come from an experienced rider.

Does your charger brick green/red indication light switch to green even if it’s not 100% charged? I charged my V12HT at 43% with red indicator light. Then when it’s about 69% the brick charger light turns to green. Is this normal?

Did the company fix the problem with the electronics that causes the motor to cut out and the resulting crash and face plant? I have been hesitant to purchase one because of all the reported issues with that model.

I just got mine today and honest had the same concern but the owner told me the cutout issue was only with the first batch and with v12 hs, and so they stopping stocking those, and from data they showed it seems that v12 ht isn’t having too much of an issue. I think just make sure you are not getting hs or the first batch it should be fine.

V12 is good EUC but not be missinformated there is others EUCs stronger HT high torque EUCs. This not mean V12 is bad is simply you cant have both speed and torque this is just reality always is compromis and V12 is great EUC.

@@speedracer9132 Ditto. Ben is a well-rounded electronic gadget reviewer. However, his camera reviews are the bread and butter of his channel. Even if they're not the most entertaining vids he can make they're almost certainly some of the most useful. The camera market is a lot bigger than the PEV market and there tends to be a lot of turnover with those things. More people will upgrade their cameras year over year than they would for vehicles like this.
