the reason why you do a dry manicure for any gel application is because when the nail plate is soaked in water, it will expand. so if you apply gel on top of an expanded nail plate, the nail plate will start to contract while the gel cannot do that, therefore it will start to lift and not last as long. Also to all the cheap ass people saying 160 is too much, you are paying for the quality of service, the nail tech's years of EXPERIENCE and the quality of products. if you go to a salon that charged 35-45 for both feet and hands, they are cutting a lot of corners to give you that price. that includes not sterilizing tools properly and reusing files and buffers. my nail mentor has 20 years of experience and she charges $120 for each nail set and people still go to her because of how well she does her job and the quality of products. its not some cheap ass products from a dollar store. honestly nails used to be a luxury and now everyone expects dirt money for it.

Honestly going to unistella for nails is like going to a high french designer to get clothes so yeah I think it's a bit disrespectful for their work of design for the people to say it's not worth the price Like they constantly invent designs that people over the world go crazy for not even knowing where it's from Idk I would pay for the art
@Karime184 жыл бұрын
Pay for art? This is not art but an overpriced piece of crap that didn't last. If you want Art, get an actual painting that will last more than a few days. Their designs are not NEW. I've seen better design come out of JAPAN!!
@mavel20384 жыл бұрын
@@Karime18 so you don't know what "art" is to begin with and don't know that art comes in many different forms not just paint on a canvas- by the way those don't last either if treated poorly. Kind of lost any validity you had with that. So go to JAPAN if you like JAPAN better and like the designs that JAPAN produces because it's in JAPAN and you have to go to JAPAN to get them.

Being a nail tech myself, I was confused as to why it would have lifted considering the amount of hard gel/gel tops and base she put on. I noticed koreans gel nails are thicker not in a bad way though they are REALLY good at what they do and designs. Im so fascinated how easy they make it look. Not sure if she caped the tip of the nail really good with top coat or not. But she should not of filed at the end again at the tip cause that causes lifting... Cause you are basically filing off that topcoat you just put on at the tip. Lol im rambling on too much now. Feeling like a nail tech nerd. But i love watching these kinds of videos not only to learn something new. But to see a customers point of veiw.

I ABSOLUTELY love getting my nails done in South Korea!! Hands down, my all time favorite place to get them done!! If you are ever in South Korea again, you should try this place in Sinchon right outside of Ewha Woman's University. It is located on Ewhayeodae-gil close to the intersection that is near the entrance of the University, on the right side of the street in the direction of one way traffic. It's a hole in the wall on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the buildings. They did a full set of 10 designs on each finger for me for only 100,000 won! All hand-painted that lasted a month and took 2 hours. I wish I could remember the name and the girl, but she was amazing and they did a great job and I LOVED the designs!!!

Yeah, HI! I'm a nail tech in Washington, and you never soak or get your nails wet with water before a gel or any nail enhancements (you called it extensions ). It doesn't matter whether you get acrylic, hard gel, or a soak off gel. The nails need to be dehydrated with a dehydrator and a primer to prevent lifting. Every speck of dead tissue on the nail plate has to be removed or the enhancements will lift. So, the tech didn't get all of the dead tissue or she didn't use a primer on the nails that lifted. Good luck!!

Hazel Marie in top of that, cheaper salons quite commonly cut corners. I’ve come across many that don’t even disinfect their tools after each client and it’s not uncommon to hear about people getting diseases from lower end salons. Not to mention, many of the low end salons use cheaper products. I noticed many use DND gel polish which I think is garbage. I’ve used it before and it literally wears the same as a regular polish

It's not the salon's fault that the gel lifted, normally the tech should tell you that foils almost always lift at the free edge of your nail. I personally think that on natural nails it shouldn't cost that much money for gel nails... but let's look at it this way, to us nail Tech's, doing nails are our form of art, which is the whole process, the shaping, filing, cuticle work, painting the nails, etc. so in all honesty, having a 2 hour appointment is completely feasible in my eyes since that's how much time i allow for my clients, given it doesn't take me the whole 2 hours to do it, i like to make sure that i have the time to be able to fix any unexpected things that might occur.

I don't know much about professional nails because I do my nails at home but I still think the price is a little high considering that nail lifting. Either she didn't do a good job securing it or the gel she was using was not good, and this is also considering she did 2 coats of it. I understand that Korean nail artists do not do acrylics like in America so such a price as 160 is understandable for acrylics. But 160 for bare nail art is kind of high. Also, she did not seem to use expensive products in general; that glitter holo paper didn't seem expensive at all. The 160 is literally only paying for the brand name, at least to me. It's like buying a Gucci purse; you're only buying it for the name, not exactly the functionality of it. Not worth 160; maybe 60... or 80, but definitely not above the 100 range.

@queenshad11615 жыл бұрын
$160 really isn’t much considering it took 2 hours. I know many clients want their nails done super quickly but firstly, nails need to be prepped very specifically with gel, not to mention she did a machine/dry/Russian manicure which gives a MUCH cleaner look and better adhesion to the nails and the polish can be applied much closer to the eponychium since the proximal fold is removed and the growth doesn’t show as much after 3-4 weeks. Second, the fact that she cut up the foil to do a design adds on time making it a more intricate design and more expensive. Gels are more expensive than acrylic. You can buy a 1oz jar of acrylic for $5-10 whereas gels are generally $25+ for a 1oz jar hence why gels tend to charge more, they can take longer to apply but they’re better for the nails/more durable since gels tend to be more flexible and you’re not inhaling those fumes like acrylic or regular polish.

Robbed. Mistakes made 1, you don’t take off the tacky layer from base, 2, foil too close to edge, 3, didn’t see the free edge capped and 4, you should never file the free edge at the end. That nail tech might be at a “famous “ salon but she made amateur mistakes, no wonder the nail lifted, give it a day and the others will too.
@Tata-iu3fy5 жыл бұрын
Amanda Morgan lots of techs are filing the free edge at the end of service. The inhibition layer is taken off so she can do the nail art.
@Tata-iu3fy5 жыл бұрын
Amanda Morgan also filing the foil is important, otherwise it will lift.
@amandamorgan76265 жыл бұрын
You cap the free edge for a reason, to stop lifting, so no you shouldn’t file it. Also primer is there to be a sticky layer for the polish to adhere to natural nails, all manufacturers will tell you that, if she did have to remove layer she should have buffed it anyway to let further art or polish grip to something. Polish does not stick to a smooth surface for long.
@amandamorgan76265 жыл бұрын
Also I didn’t say she filed the foil, I commented that it was too close to the edge, a gap should be left like stripping tape to let the top coat encapsulate it, especially when it’s so thick and full coverage.
@Tata-iu3fy5 жыл бұрын
Amanda Morgan I didn’t say you should file, I said that a lot of nail techs are doing that now. The way nails are done are changing with time. Maybe you should not bash it until you ask and see why they decided to do that. Also, primer is not there to be a sticky layer... primer is done during prep after dehydration. I am done after that! 🤦🏻♀️

They have a very different way of doing nails compared to the japanese way or western way but you seriously overpaid compared to what you can get in korea. My korean friend says they do like to "upcharge" for americans and foreigner compared to the locals. So hopefully that didn't happen to you. I paid 120$ at an expensive japanese nail salon and I was there for 2 hours, but it was for a MANI and a PEDI, 1 hour for each, massages, and special scrubs and stuff you have to wait awhile before removing. The lady did an amazing job - regular HQ nail polish that lasted 3-4 weeks on my feet without chipping, and the my hands chipped after 1 week This was a special occasion so I paid for it.

@lnuma925 жыл бұрын
The thickness probably has a lot to do with the clear gel they put on top or in between layers to protect the design and have it last longer. The technique is also found in the way Japanese nail artists do nail as well.

@@kathrynnrose Yeah...that's mostly why unfortunately. 😅 A lot of gel brands from Japan and S. Korea were formulated to last a long time with a density like thick plastic (brands like Presto, Vetro, and Happy Gel come to mind) They're made to be extremely durable on their own, but they are A BITCH TO TAKE OFF. As a nail, it's definitely a dedication of filing off the gel well enough to get it to soak properly. The brands are still great, but work like a double edged sword.
