So, it looks like one needs to know or be willing to study mythology from multiple cultures (I'm seeing Celtic, Norse, Egyptian, Greek, and Judeo-Christian) to get the most out of this deck. I'm not the best at myths, but I can see bits of them throughout the deck that bring the RWS meanings to alot of the cards that, at first glance, don't make sense. For example, the 7 of swords is Circe (a powerful sorceress and minor goddess in Greek myth) turning some men that came to her island into swine. However, the kicker is that she did it via a potion slipped into the food she gave them. I think that works pretty well for the meaning of 'trickery' most people assign to the 7 of swords. And the 4 of pentacles looks like it could be from celtic myth where the sidhe (if you're unfamiliar with celtic lore, you'd probably call them fairies) are sometimes said to be descended from fallen angels. Perhaps remarking on sin and greed (why an angel would fall), but also that you can still find security (family, resources, etc) in places you didn't think you could? You just have to let go of the need to control where your resources come from (from earth vs heaven).

Yup.... totally agree with your review... there are a few cards I really love.... but many are just strange and I don’t get how they fit into the realm of the Sacred Feminine ..... and don’t get me started on the long-legged, big boobed barbies!!! I can’t read with this deck.... I’ve kept it on hand because of the few images I do like to use on my altar.... Lo Scarabeo missed the boat on this one.....

Yeah, I get that the divine feminine should be 'mystical' and 'perfect', but I don't think that long-legged, big boobed barbies are perfect. For example, a well-rounded woman is far more perfect as a mother-figure, implying generosity at a fleshly level. Or I love Sheila-Na-Gig in the Goddess Oracle by Janto and Marashinksy - a true crone with saggy breasts and a childlike smile

Sorry, I didn't see this before (duh). Lisa Hunt drew a beautiful Celtic Dragon deck. My only reservation in fully recommending it is that she has Swords as Fire and Wands as Air. If that bothers you, don't get this deck. Otherwise, the artwork is gorgeous and the cards are very readable.

It's funny, as I'm actually enjoying using it quite a lot. Just not trying to squash it into 'tarot' perceptions :D

Hmm I really want to like this, love the colours and so many of the details but the fact that all these women have the bodies of Barbie's really bothers me :\

Yeah, I know what you mean. My favourite Goddess deck remains the Marashinsky and Janto Goddess Oracle - a true variety of cultures and bodies :)

@Inner Whispers thanks for letting me know! I'm looking for good goddess and/or women centered decks lately so I'll look that one up. Other than this I've only been able to find the Barbara Walker Tarot which I absolutely love.
