Production I.G. has always been the king of animating the anime films and tv shows. GITS: Innocence looks so good for being made in 2004 that it could pass for being made in 2020.
I admit going there when I saw the line "and memories of a woman". Add in this song, and, well, I imagined that Batou and Motoko should be dancing with each other.

I feel that there is much to be said for the Celtic belief that the souls of those whom we have lost are held captive in some inferior being, in an animal, in a plant, in some inanimate object, and thus effectively lost to us until the day (which to many never comes) when we happen to pass by the tree or to obtain possession of the object which forms their prison. Then they start and tremble, they call us by our name, and as soon as we have recognised them the spell is broken. Delivered by us, they have overcome death and return to share our life. And so it is with our own past. It is a labour in vain to attempt to recapture it: all the efforts of our intellect must prove futile. The past is hidden somewhere outside the realm, beyond the reach of intellect, in some material object (in the sensation which that material object will give us) of which we have no inkling. And it depends on chance whether or not we come upon this object before we ourselves must die.
Song: kimiko itoh-follow me original version Follow me To a land across the shining sea Waiting beyond the world we have known Beyond the world the dream could be And the joy we have tasted Follow me Along the road that only love can see Rising above the fun years of the night Into the light beyond the tears And all the years we have wasted Follow me To a distant land this mountain high Where all the music that we always kept inside will fill the sky Singing in the silent swerve, a heart is free While the world goes on turning and turning Turning and falling Follow me To a distant land this mountain high Where all the music that we always kept inside will fill the sky Singing in the silent swerve, a heart is free While the world goes on turning and turning Turning and falling Follow me Follow me Follow me Follow me Follow me Follow me

4:45 in the original movie this scene was cut. why?
He's not in search of his own identity, unlike the revenant Murphy (that's why the last line in Paul Verhoeven's film seems so triumphant). The first film, however, saw Motoko struggling with "Just what AM I?", finding a new sense of self after her run-in with the Puppet Master. In "Innocence", Batou is outwardly searching for the answer to a rash of murders committed by robotic geisha, but he's also searching for some sign of Motoko. He hadn't been quite himself since she disappeared into the night at the end of "Ghost in the Shell [1]" When you discount the more fantastic elements, you get a noir-ish story of an investigation, loss, and reunion. The text in this trailer toys with us a little regarding his dynamic with Motoko Kusanagi:"memories of a woman" , "lonesome 'ghost' of a man". Heck, the first film in and of itself set me to ask, "Does Batou have a crush on Maj. Kusanagi?"
does anybody as realize the main character is a rip of of Steven Seagal?

We found a Heretic one. Exterminate!(joke) intresting in his movies is, that the Characters dont show real emotions, but the dog does, check "Avalon" the real actor movie from him.
