Why INNOSON will not make car engines? Mr Chukwuma is a man of vision, I am currently studying Supply chain Management, I can tell you all that want Innoson to make car engines that, not every laptop brand makes the chips or even manufactures the item including apple, dell, but to mention a few, same for your TV, mobile phones, the clothes you wear some of the designer labels have no sewing machine/s. Most car manufactures don't make their own engine, it takes a lot of resources to develop and produce reliable engines, not to mention the years of testing required, it takes a long time to develop the competencies to make one. Why make what you can outsource, especially if you are not competent at it. I follow F1, a sport of the fastest racing cars in the world, and most of the teams including McLaren buys their engine from Honda, www.autoblog.com/…/…/honda-f1-engine-mclaren-changes/. I drive a Vauxhal and it has GM engine in it, SAAB's have used Volvo and GM engines, Skoda uses VW check this article by forbes, www.forbes.com/…/same-car-different-brand-hugely-hi…/ car component sharing is common practices. Innoson is employing people and developing skills for a new class of citizens. We need to be more like Innoson, travelling a road few dare to travel, it would have been cheaper for him to be a Toyota, Austin Martin, or even a Roll Royce distributor, instead he decided to compete. Mr Chukwuma I salute you sir.

Big up innocent, people like u no de two, I hail u from diaspora, I will look forward to heeding to that advice you just gave to Nigerians, I would say it should be generalised, Africans. We all should start to build our nations, living in those countries we are will only benefit us individually , but what about the others, the people who we can help , the poor in our nation which we could add a bit to their lives. That at the end, we will look back to our own stories or legacies. The Nigeria of the 60's I miss.

Positive News. Even TOYOTA ,GM and other big manufacturing companies do not manufacture most of the COMPONENT that make-up the final product. Same for Aerospace. They all have VENDORS to supply some parts to the Assembly Line .Matter of fact , every company has a vendor as long as they not making or extracting the raw material them-self. Mr Innocent sound like a visionary, please do not focus on manufacturing ENGINE. Not able to manufacture engine is very OKAY. Am sure everyone knows that GE made JET ENGINE for 787 And ROLLS ROYCE makes JET ENGINE too.
@ginger-bread_man7 жыл бұрын
Forget engine, Innoson does *not even design a single vehicle* . All that they do is assemble Chinese cars in Nigeria. Do an image search of *'donfeng bus'* as an example.

RASH BREED let's look at your point from American stand point. Let use Freightliner truck as an example. Freight purchases engines mainly from Cummins, occasionally, freightliner buys engines from Caterpillar and Detroit. About 100% of freightliner transmission and differentials are manufactured by Eaton Fuller. Air ride suspension for freightliner is manufactured by Dunlop etc. Not that freightliner engineers are incapable of making these components, but the company considers it more cost effective to puchase and assemble these components. A company called Bostrom constructs and upholsters most truck seats in the United States. If an upholstery company from Ijebu Ode makes car seats and offers better and cheaper seat than Igbo man, who do we think Innoson would buy from? If Hausa man is a better accountant than Igbo man and wanted a job as account receivable manager at Innoson, who do Nigerians think would get the job. When Igbo youths sing Biafra, they do so not because they lack the ability to compete in the scheme of things in Nigeria but because things seem not to work in the country. It remains a fact that Nigeria is still under British rule in disguise of Hausa Fulani. We refuse to take the destiny of our lives in our hands. Rather, we keep believing that the white man is more intelligent than us. Innoson's case is a sad one in point and goes to validate the hopelessness that is Nigeria. It is baffling that lots of people in the name of tribe are comfortable with this ugly phenomenon which is likely to sink Africa and the Blackman on God's planet earth. We refuse to see the big picture as we stayed chasing the Igbo man and in so doing the future of the entire race of people is going down the drain. May God help the black man.

Mam, you asked great questions here. But let's look at your points from American stand point. You see, if I try, I may be as good as you are in what you do. Without tribal considerations, there are things each and every one of us can do better. But in Nigeria, we have left all and believe that cattle rearing can offer our children a better competing age in the world's play arena. Be the young child Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Effik, Ijaw, he deserves to be respected in the world's competition field and not looked down on simply because of the color of his skin. I have lived with Yoruba in most of my adult age and never any problem, but when Nigeria becomes a variable in the progress equation, everything goes bananas.

It is true that most of the parts are produced in Korea, but I really appreciate the fact that few of the parts are made in Nigeria. What about those foreign used cars that are imported into the country that does not have any impact to the economy of the country? Look at USA for example, Most of the products here in America is made in China and assembled in USA, Even the AppLe iPhone is designed in USA and assembled in China. when it comes to the cars in America, American government will never use any product that is not Chevrolet, Ford or Dodge car. This includes the police cars. My question to our government is, why can't we support Innocent and do the same for our country made car? We hate each other and thereby, will not be able to patronize our own: which I think is bad.

However, I know your sentiments because you know Africa and Africans like the palm of your hands! You know he the interviewee is just assembling pieces of metals together because I know you must have a stamping facility to manufacture cars and how is that possible when there are no steel production rather smelting! For example I’ve been to Chicago heights on the south suburbs of chicago where they got their Ford stamping plant. That they use for Ford vehicles made in America! I know you just don’t want to embarrass him! Thanks anyways but I want us Nigerian, rather Africans to be sincere even if we are producing or assembling! Madam Adeola I beg your pardon that I’m not trying to solicit to you but I’ll really like you to produce a film with the qualities of Tunde Kelani if I’m right.. a film about Nigeria, Nigerians, Africa and Africans! I understand these could be published in a book but there are people who don’t know how’to read ! Please keep up your heroic good work and don’t give space to those perpetrators and their corrupt attitude any altitude! Thank you very much! Festus; Chicago,IL originally from Edo State, Nigeria. 🙏🏾

To all Thomas. Pros and Cons: Factories with automation and robotics produce more cars and hire less workers, while Innoson with manual labour hires more workers (creating more employment) but produces less cars. If robots can fit, say, a door in 10 seconds, man can also fit same door in 20 minutes with same result. He imports what he cannot produce - very important. Lastly, we are not wiser than the Nigeria customs or can see better than them who knows when any and which finished product is imported into the country. The Nigerian Customs are constantly watching Innoson imports and i am surely by now they are convinced, if you like, that those cars are made in Nigeria and so am I.

If one man can employ 7400 people, what is Nigerian government doing? They are still being begged to even patronize the products in the country. The government do not car about the country, they are just there for their individual intrests and gain. MAJOR TAKEAWAYS - IVM is Product-Oriented and not Consumer-centric - It's achieved major milestones in manufacturing but needs more in marketing, sales and PR - A 21st century startup focused CEO needs to man the C-Class executive to scale growth. - Little or no sign of R&D team, company culture or business dev. - Little or no sign of Unfair Advantage compared to other competitions. - Little or no sign of having identified it's customer segments: are early adopters white-collar staffs, high-end earners, tech-savvies or EV enthusiasts etc - No adoption of inbound scalable channels such as SEOs, Webinars, Social Media, blogs to build reach and inform decision making. - Reducing production cost and scaling up margin is difficult in a country with no reliable source of power. - What key solution is IVM offering and why? - Existing alternatives are accessible compared to IVM. More needs to be done. But first "the best products are built by a team, not a man" - Steve Jobs.

I hope and dream of the day I will drive a made in Nigeria car but unfortunately that day is not here yet. Those cars are manufactured and assembled in Korea with only a few components added in Nigeria. I would be the proudest person in the world to point at a made in Nnewi car but one of the most annoying thing with Nigeria & Nigerian is that when we are being taken for a ride even the intelligent people keep quiet & play the fool. There is just no way the quality of Innoson cars can come out of the production line in of their factory in Nnewi. I have been in so many car factories and I have seen images & video of Innoson factory and it's just not plausible that the cars come out from that factory. Don't get me wrong, the man has achieved a lot for himself and for Nigeria which he should be very proud of, but to label those cars 'Made in Nigeria' is nothing but fraud.
@wisetime18379 жыл бұрын
Spoilt Child Dont talk about what you dont know. Innoson is a manufacturing company not assembling company. No motor manufacturing company produces everything. Motor Manufacturing company is a company that can build frame and the pan body of a vehicle. What a manufacturing company does is this. When she needs a special tyres she would give the contract to michelin or firestone. When she needs a special battery she would give the contract to vatta. The same to the glasses, shock absorbers, engine etc. Have you seen mercedes tyre before? No because she doesnt produce tyre. Plastic,rubber,glass companies are running after motor manufacturing companies looking for contracts. If you need a made in african car you have it.
