hi everyone! i wanted to do some *quick PSAs* since this video has now hit 1m views (incredible! all the wangxian love!) 1) this song is *FANMADE* - it is not from any official mdzs adaptation. 2) along with #1, it is a _fanmade song_ about a _FANON CONCEPT_ - aka lan wangji playing inquiry for 13 years. *This is not canon. Lan Wangji has never officially played Inquiry for 13 years in the novel or any adaptation thereof. THIS IS FANON!!* I'm aware this video has probably contributed a lot to people thinking he did play inquiry for 13 years while pining for wwx, but as the fandom is growing bigger, I just wanted to clarify: Lan Wangji is more than just someone who played his guqin waiting for wwx to come back, and he deserves that respect! 3) since the fandom is growing bigger, which is awesome: _please please please_ try and read the novel first! It's the original source of all adaptations, and it's still by far the best. I love the anime, manhua, audio drama, and CQL as much as the next mdzs fan, but the novel is the truest form of wangxian. CQL is great, I love it, but it's more of an au than anything else. (Please don't be that person claiming the characters in the novel are OOC because you think the drama is the only right version of mdzs.) honestly i never would've imagined this video would hit 1m views. i hope everyone will continue supporting mxtx and her works! have a wonderful end to 2019 and let's all look forward to the new decade together ^^

The saddest thing about Lan Wangji's love for Wei Wuxian is not that he played inquiry hoping he'll be reunited with Wei Wuxian, he only did it out of longing. He missed Wei Wuxian, badly. Both Wei Ying and Lan Zhan were suffering, they were both in pain but for two different reasons and in two different moments. Wei Ying was the reason Lan Zhan could smile and could get out of his shell to be the person that he is 13 years after his death. That longing brought Lan Zhan to open his eyes, understanding what his priorities were and that he didn't want to see Wei Ying suffer anymore when he came back. On the ther hand, Wei Ying felt like someone could finally bond with him, he was drawn to Lan Zhan and felt that he was someone that could match him, even if he didn't understand his feelings, exchanging those for just curiosity, he was just a kid who wanted to live to the fullest, even if sometimes he acted recklessly. When he was falling down, he was so overwhelmed by the resentful energy that he stopped caring about his life and it ended up destroying him. It was not that he couldn't control it, it's that he didn't want to control it anymore, because he was so done with his life and didn't want to be merciful to others anymore, he lost everything and wanted them to pay for what they did to him and his loved ones. Lan Zhan was not the only one who saw someone dying in front of him, Wei Ying lost his Shijie too, and saw her sacrificing herself for him, but people don't even recognize her existence. Even if it's hard for someone to admit, Lan Zhan didn't trust him completely and didn't always stay by his side, because of the idiotic rules and beliefs that he was taught by his clan (rules that don't have that much sense and are just a facade, since during the story, the Lan clan broke so many of them), and couldn't express how much he cared for him until he fell in that spiral of depression after the loss. Everything was all too late. It was too late for Lan Zhan to step up and it was too late for Wei Ying to stop. All the sufferings that Wei Ying experienced, were because he was lonely, no support or understanding whatsoever, if he just received help by someone it would have changed so many things, how can you take it on him. If you want to blame someone, don't blame him, blame the clans. If you want to thank someone instead, thank him, bacause he was that spiral of light in so many people and in Lan Zhan's empty lifes. Nobody is perfect even if we think so, or we set our mind to it and we have to know that even if we love, we always lack, no love is perfect. Wei Ying was somehow too confident and Lan Zhan was someway too insecure. They both ended each other and despite everything they don't owe each other anything, but they both deserve each other and need to learn from one another. This story doesn't exist for you to turn a blind eye on one of them or to pay attention to only one of them desregarding the other, because their pain come from their own choices and their happiness is the result of their unity. You can't feel bad about Lan Zhan without expecting me to go like: "and what about Wei Ying?" Either you consider both, or you don't consider any of them. I don't think either of them would want you to look down on one another. There's no "Wei Ying should feel lucky to have Lan Zhan" or viceversa, because they are both amazing and they are both human, plus how do you think Lan Zhan fell in love with Wei Ying? Is it just for looks or because he used to flirt with him? No, it was because he saw how great his soul was and how caring and beautiful this human being was, he is not less virtuous compared to Lan Zhan and only if you put yourself in his shoes, you can understand him. They are just lucky to have each other, with their flaws and their qualities. Whoever tries to argue about this, or tries to bring down, hurt or neglet even one of them, is gonna have a hard time being in any kind of relationship of trust and acceptance...

Idk if it's me. When weiying had died and lan zhan's waiting, as if I'm the one waiting, lan zhang probably felt really empty and cold without weiying's smile, voice and presence. Lan zhang prob understands weiying a lot despite his mischievous persona. He realizes that after weiying had died. So when weiying came back, lan zhang is less strict and more lenient as if he regretted not letting loose a little and just spend time with weiying. To lan zhang weiying is wine or sunshine to him, warm.

Exactly. After reading the book and reading what there is if the webcomic, I felt that emptyness in my heart. The thought of someone you love dying though that person never knew your feelings and how you truly love/loved them just hurts to an extreme degree. I was literally watching a random show and this thought appeared. I dont know exactly Lan Zhan felt, though I can only imagine it was extremly heart breaking. Feeling incomplete and empty without Wei Ying.

jokes aside, this is heart wrenching. wangji lived for 13 years, thinking wei ying was gone forever, never being able to share his grief over his death with anyone, simply longing for him, not ever expecting him to come back to him, and when he truly did, he was expected once again, to fight him for his "demonic ways". The extent of suffering they went through is so heart breaking, and their bond goes beyond simply just "love". Its Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji against the world and its so bitter sweet that all wei ying ever wanted was to be a cultivator and be with his family, and all wanji later wanted was to support and back his soulmate who he knew would never embrace something bad, not without a good reason at least, found a friend first more than anything else in this wayward, wild boy full of life that barely let anything phase him, who enjoyed life in general and all they found in their path was suffering and harsh words and loved ones lost in more than just death. It hurts me to tears and I honestly never cry over anime like hjfssfuhvudhav i dont have words, its like someone is squeezing my lungs everytime i listen to a mdzs track, whether it be from the anime version or the live action series.

For some reason this reminded me of the part in the light novel.... SPOILER ALERT the part when Lan Wangji finds out that Wei Wuxian is dead and drinks Emporer's Smile for the first time and gets drunk, and how he searched everywhere for a flute but when someone gave him a white flute he threw a tantrum and said that wasn't the one he was looking for, because he was looking for Chenqing, something that was precious to Wei Wuxian. This song reminded me of that for some reason and now I'm crying 😭💕

Wei Ying life is just too sad to handle. Since the beginning. Losing his parents, living on the streets, then losing his adoptive parents, being partially responsible for killing his brother-in-law and his sister, leaving his nephew orphaned, damaging his brotherhood with Jiang Cheng to the point of no return, giving up his golden core and having to recur to dark arts just to be critized by all the clans for it, rescuing elders, women and children, growing found of them just in time to watch them all being killed, specially Wen Ning and Wen Qing. He died and not even then he found peace. He was resurrected just to find out that 13 years later, he's still being hardly judged and everything is magically his fault. This series is a masterpiece but it's not for the weaks of heart. I'm deeply grateful for Wangji and how he've always stood up for Wei Yuxian. I honestly think that if it wasn't for Lan Zhan, he would have lost his sanity long time ago.

Lan Zhan probably regretted not being there for Wei Ying in his previous life and hence when he got the second chance, he was ready to go against the whole world if it meant he could keep Wei Ying safe. Only after finishing the novel did i finally understand why Lan Zhan was so hell bent on bringing the reincarnated Wei Ying back to Gusu.

It struck me so hard when I realized this. The great Hanguang-jun was known to be "WHEREVER THE CHAOS IS". If not for this song, I would never understand why. While Wei Wuxian was alive, many regarded him as "bringer of chaos" so when he died many celebrated. However, Lan Wangji actually was grieving for so long that he developed the habit of going wherever there was chaos. It may be partly because he wanted to help people BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, he wants to go and check to see if the one that caused the disturbance was HIM. The chaos he had long been waiting and looking for. But it was always NOT HIM. How painful could that be...everytime?😥😭

LWJ is known for being where the chaos is, be it little or large. Part of it is because of his sense of righteousness, but part of me wants to think that he just doesn't want to give up any chance of maybe...just maybe he would encounter WWX's soul. Wang Xian From my interpretation, the “secret of the song” that LWJ wrote and hummed in the cave was a love confession for WWX. He even named it Wangxian. “But has he told him?” LWJ has never outright told WWX that he loves him, but indeed he has through his actions, not words. And for 13 years, LWJ regretted not telling WWX that he wanted to bring WWX back to Gusu because he loves him and wants to protect him, not because he hates WWX’s demonic way. LWJ thinks his lack of effort and inability to say that “secret” out loud is the reason WWX refuses his help and ultimately leads to WWX’s death. LWJ blames himself more than anyone, and he hurts more than anyone.

Mdzs songs are like sweet pain. They hurt but we still want to feel them. This is one of my fav songs, it slowly builds up the feel, and if i close my eyes and concentrate i can see the whole drama in just 4 min 50 second. I really don't know what is so different about mdzs story line, because some of stories that i have read have one of the characters dying and then coming back alive or not coming back at all. But there is just something about wangxian that feels so different that It attracts. And the attraction is so powerful that you just completely lose yourself in it. The songs related to mdzs are really precious and heartfelt. I can never imagine myself from growing bored from this.
