In Russian from afar videos are by far the best comprehensible input in Russian that I have found. I'm a semi retired language professor, language methodology consultant and self described collector of languages. My current obsession is Russian but it's been so difficult to find engaging comprehensible input at level +1. Sergey is a master storyteller whose techniques ( natural repetition, frequent pauses, definitions of words, props and humor) blend to create a comfortable and inviting setting for beginning students of Russian. I watch these many times over and my comprehension of spoken Russian has greatly improved.

It is wonderful to hear Russian stories of a young man finding a frog and the frog turns into a beautiful princess. In fact, very often in my country, a young man will find a beautiful princess, get married, and then she turns into a frog.

Don't give up! You can make very rapid progress if you just commit to it for a few months. There will be a certain tipping point where new information no longer feels overwhelming. I'm about 6 months in and I can comfortably listen to and comprehend most of this without wanting to set my hair on fire. Personally I don't worry about the cases too much. Once you readily remember a few key phrases (like "с новым годом") it becomes almost automatic. Sometimes I do some grammar drills, but it's not my priority.

@@pmk7771 Yeah, it is a difficult language with several unfamiliar grammatical concepts, and not many familiar-sounding words. But I very much enjoy the challenge and I'm very excited whenever I learn something new. I think that is the most important thing to succeed at it. Ik wens jou nog veel geluk! я желаю вам идачи!
