Adam: The 8 Pipes coming down from the engine are called the Headers (2on this car). The downpipe is mounted on the turbo which is only one Pipe (as twin turbo two of them one per turbo) the downpipe includes the catalytic converter which doesn’t really let the engine breathe properly now if you remove them you can run more turbo boost due the cats got removed or replaced with sport cats with the aftermarket downpipe so the exhaust gases can escape easier without having to fight through the honeycomb cats what is like blowing against a wall hahah . :)

This car has no headers. The turbos or mounted directly to the cylinder head. The turbos are installed in the middle of the „V“ that’s why it’s called „the hot V“ That’s also the reason why Michael felt that „instant kick“ because this car has nearly no turbo lack because the exhaust gas goes directly into the turbos. However I agree with the downpipe. The 2 downpipes go down from each turbo.

JustinsSupercars The AMG M177 has the turbos right on top of the engine yes. But it still got tiny little headers (turbo manifold) where the turbo is mounted on. 4 pipes per block go together to one where the turbo sits on. TMO I know that Engine really well, I work at Brabus and work on that engine every day. I don’t consider it a real header. It’s just a little distance piece that is necessary to go from 4 openings to one. Also it depends if it’s an AMG engine if it’s an AMG „S“ engine or a normal „500“ engine. They all have very different parts in and on them.

Downpipe is the pipe that comes off the turbine housing. You were explaining the turbo manifold. So you have the turbo manifold which then directs the spent gases from the combustion chamber. It then travels through the turbine wheel giving it energy to spin. The turbine is on a shaft which is connected to the compressor. The compressor side is the side that is your "intake" and is bringing in fresh air. It then compresses, goes through an intercooler (cools the air from being compressed in the compressor housing) , then from the intercooler THEN into the throttle body and into the intake manifold etc. I digress, so the spent gases from the combustion chamber will flow into the turbine housing and its energy spins the turbine. It hits the Inducer and flows into whats call the exducer which then sends it into the DOWNPIPE which is then connected to the rest of the exhaust system. Usually 4-2-1 is N/A cars. With a turbo manifold it's 4 individual tubes flowing into a collector which merges them right into the turbo flange and into the turbo.

Your channel is different from other rich's youtube channels. First of all, your chemisty with Adam really adds to the channel. It is intersting to watch the rich and the "regular" (sorry idk what to call people like us lol) have a great relationship. Also Adam asks great questions which the "regular people" like me, would want to know. More than anything, most people who watch your channel - who are mostly not the super rich- feel very welcomed and involved because of the way you treat Adam. Everyone is an equal and should be treated with fairness but unfortunately you dont see that often with the super rich. However, you treat everyone as an equal. Especially that is easy to see by how you treat adam, which makes you so likeable. Keep it up Michael and Adam!!

Yea, except it was wrong. He was describing headers. The downpipe is the part of the exhaust that comes after the turbo and either is before the catalytic converter, or contains a catalytic converter. The upgraded downpipe on this car probably sounds better because it deleted the cat.

As a car guy, Adams explanation of down pipes physically hurt me. The downpipe is the pipe that exhausts directly off of the turbine housing of the turbo. The multiple pipes that exhaust each cylinder is the exhaust header/manifold.

Twin Turbo means you have one fast spooling turbo for low end power and a slow spooling one for top end power and Bi-Turbo means you have 2 same size turbos and they spool at the same time, so its laggier but more top end power and a bigger "kick". If anyone was wondering :D ps. i know nothing about this "turbo engines dont sound good" talk :D ps2. a downpipe comes straight from the turbo not the engine. The only thing attached to the engine is the turbo manifold :)
