The comics with Donald Duck and eggs is wild. Disney got away with some strange things back in those days. 😂😂😂

Ziggy stuff is cool! Do you collect Ziggy newspaper strips? I have quite a few of them, including the syndicate sheets sent to the newspapers to print from long ago.
@pop-comics Жыл бұрын
I do I probably have about 20-30% of all the strips printed, not easy to sort display and store but I would love a full set one day. Syndicated sheets are super cool I have a small stack in the collection.

those Alley oop comics are great . schomburg did 2 or 3 of those beautiful books i have about 3 of them . love when you show the golden age . great video
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know for sure he did the last 2 issues, but there are 2-3 more that are not attributed to anyone that look like his work so I was not 100% sure Either way they are all beautiful comics. I need to find a good complete works reprinted book because I really want to read the story.

Its a wonderful set of comics indeed. I could only see his name attributed to the last 2 and CGC labels don't mark him on the other covers except those 2, but most of the art on the other covers looks so much like his right?

Never seen that before in a comic where the individual pages the the story was moving up and down at the top. At first thought it was a miscut at the top 😅 but yeah a great video Ps your enthusiasm is enticing to wanna get these issues also. Altho I don't collect alley oop comics or ziggy. Great haul of classic books! Just because of all the unsealing thought I’d ask- are you aware of The green painters tape trick? After decades of collecting and many accidental tape pulls a KZbinr hipped me to green painters tape. You never want it to happen but painters tape is so much easier to remove when it accidentally comes in contact than even self sealing bags
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
Yeah painters tape definitely better then scotch tape or any other types of tape. I just just pull off the tape all together when opening old books since they are more likely to be damaged if it accidentally hits the cover. I want to get all my key issues and golden age books into mylites sometime soon so I think when I do that I will buy the little painters tape circles you can buy so the tape is not too large holding each book closed.

I had to fill out a EPA declaration saying the ink did not have any toxic chemicals in it lol More Japan boxes would probably be art books and manga not as much toys because I am trying to make room in the office.

From my non-professional eyes, I think you might even be a little conservative on your grades for some of those comics. Spine roll is not terribly detrimental as long as the pages are not brittle and spine stress is typical of the age. I always keep a VG/FN if the cover has gloss and there are no glaring tears.
@pop-comics2 жыл бұрын
I am sure I am a little more conservative on the books. Some flaws such as shadow burns etc I am always a little unsure how much it will effect grade. I just eye ball grades based on other issues I have. Some of my graded stuff shocks me its as high as a 5 and sometimes I have a 5-6 that looks like it should be better.
