I recently bought the “OG” STORM from VORO..not a good experience. BUT, I sincerely love this machine! When I say “recently”, I mean in late December. I live in Tennessee and the weather has just turned….FANTASTIC! I’m 72, and SS ain’t doin’ it, for me. Bought THIS scooter because of the range and the fact that I can carry it upstairs(sans battery). No problem walking it down 2 flights of stairs, because of the height of the deck, and 11” tall tires. This scooter is a dream-come-true😊
@IROC-ROB8 күн бұрын
Why wasn't it a good experience? I was thinking about buying a Storm from Voro.
@donscott64318 күн бұрын
@ I bought it and received it almost 3 weeks later. It came very poorly packaged: it was in a huge “X LTD” box, with a bunch of small styrofoam “pillows” in it. The battery was hanging out and the latch required bending to get it to lock. I charged it, overnight, but it wouldn’t charge. I contacted VORO. The told me some things to try: and to send them a video of the results, which I did. Didn’t hear back. Tried to submit a claim through insurance, who told me that VORO was responsible for warrantee parts (battery). Called VORO numerous times. Customer support said that they would get back: never did. I bought a brand-new battery from MinimotorsUSA. It’s the newly upgraded 35 AH, insulated port edition. Cost me $1600. I suggest you deal with MinimotorsUSA. AWESOME CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!! I’ve ordered a FEW items from them and they CALLED ME, to be sure I would be home before shipping them. PS. VORO isn’t dealing with Minimotors OR Kaabo, anymore. Just tryna save you some grief and money. Minimotors IS a little more expensive but “straight up”, No funny business👍

reasons for remowable battery for me: Make it lighter if needed to carry up the stairs. Possibility to store battery in warmer place during winter while scooter may stand in garrage etc. Possibility to take battery with you and leave scooter outside if you for some reason have to leave it unatended and therefore make scooter not so attractive for thieves even though I know there is fingerprint reader. Easier charging when you dont want to bring scooter lets say into apartment because of its weight, size or because its dirty. In case of god forbid battery catches fire during charging it wont burn down the whole scooter...
@SeekerKnight Жыл бұрын
I can understand a perfect use for a removable battery. In our area the winter temps are normally well below freezing. Add to this a need for normal daily charging, and, unless you have climate controlled storage, you need to carry either the scooter or just the battery inside to charge it properly. Lithium cells get ruined fast from charging in extreme cold. Another reason for a removable battery could be an adventure challenge. Our favorite vacation town is 165 miles from home. In a car, this can be an enjoyable day trip. On a scooter it becomes an endurance challenge. Heck, I’ve done it on a very large motorcycle A (1600cc Yamaha Roadstar), and even that made for a long, iron butt rub. On a scooter you’re going to need an extra battery even if you spend the night. Hope this gives purpose to the concept of needing removable batteries.

I could imagine by making the battery pack removable, it also increases the ability for heat distribution / cooling compared of being in a fully closed compartment
@joeyuno38463 жыл бұрын
The removable battery pack is what draws me strongly to this scooter. It can serve as an awesome back up power pack. Hooked to the appropriate inverter, you can power a camper's AC or keep a small refrigerator going for a long while-it can power a computer, used for lights at night or even run a small Microwave! Two battery packs would make it an RV's dream!
@stinkycheese8043 жыл бұрын
Doesn't make much sense, paying a premium for that form factor battery to do it and then not have the scooter available for much use because you're draining the battery. Plus you threw in the words "appropriate inverter" as if you don't realize the electrical factors involved. If your camper doesn't even have a power source, you generally don't wire it up to be 110V/220VAC unless using it at a campground where you'd have that mains power and not need a battery. If setup for battery, it'd be a 12V or 24VDC system and you need not an inverter for scooter pack like this but rather a buck regulator. It all seems a bit silly though, that a camper large enough for A/C, refrigerator, computer, and a microwave, would not depend on rigging up some scooter battery to power it all. lol, that's hilarious.

Good job with your review! I believe the removable battery is awesome. No one can’t stop to Scooter momentum. People will encounter issues like building associations not allowing you to go over the carpet just to make it to your apartment. Same for some work places. So the industry will need to move to better IP rating and removable batteries 🔋. And owners will need to find alternatives to secure and store the unid . Thanks

There are so many pros with having a removable battery.. The first one that comes to mind is servicing, if I need to get my battery rebalanced or replaced, I won't need to send my entire scooter to the shop for servicing.. However, even though I would say that overall it is a nice feature to have, for Electric Scooters in general I wouldn't say it's necessarily a deal maker.. For Electric Bicycles however, removable batteries are an absolute must..
@firstranger72823 жыл бұрын
Only because you don't need a certain feature or can't even think of a possible use for it, doesn't mean it's useless. Removable battery is one of the selling points of this model. For one lithium batteries are extremely dangerous and ability to store it separately is a definite a plus. Not talking about ability to have pre-charged battery at some key points or at a single location for a quick battery swap should you need one. The problem with almost every reviewer is that they don't really use those scooters for anything other than making a review and it's nothing but an expensive toy for them.

Although I don't own the Dualtron Storm, I can see the extra sense of security for people who live in an apartment building or other shared space full of strangers. That's even more important when you live in a sketchy building in the middle of a ghetto, like myself. Since owning an electric scooter is far cheaper than a car, it's a more achievable approach to independent transportation than the traditional car for people at a lower income level. I personally wouldn't feel safe leaving my electric scooter in a public place, even if it were locked, as long as there was an easy way to jump on and ride away. Having a removable battery is an extra step in deterring theft

I live in an apartment on the 3rd floor with no elevator, the rent and location are great (center of Bangkok). I had the option to pick between Nami Burn-e and Dualtron Storm ver.1 (no heat sink under the controller) I forced myself to pick Storm for the removable battery. Nami has sine wave controller, bigger battery (Panasonic), cells are connecter together by copper instead of nickel something like other high powered scooters, easy adjustable suspension, better water resistance including the throttle controller, stem mechanism is better than Strom. I payed ~3700USD for my new Strom so I am grateful and I can't wait to upgrade to Nami Burn-e 2 if they ever make it.

the rubber dumper on Strom are too stiff but they will get softer and better after 500km of use. If you are light weight you might still want to change to softer rubber. also steering dumper are a must you plan to go faster that 70km/h

My only gripe with the thunder 2 is the “kick plate?” Not sure if that is what it’s called. It’s basically the notch nobody wanted on the iPhone. I’d rather just have a solid platform to rest my foot on. I have to say I’m little jealous as I purchased the storm last month( have not used it yet waiting for vacation) then the thunder 2 came out and it’s essentially comparable to the storm. I do prefer the storm though. The swappable battery is great. However like you said it’s range makes it kind of obsolete.it’s ideal if you have to commute long distances and can have a spare battery already charged when you get there. I should purchase a high powered headlight though. I have not heard much about the lights on the storm I’m imagining they are not that bright. I need 2000 lumens.

There are already plenty of those and have been for a long time now, which is why to not focus on something NON-NEWS-WORTHY. Besides, once you ride a powerful scooter with long range, it's kind of a disappointment to ride something slower and less capable, unless all you really care about it carrying it into work or home so it won't be stolen or left in the elements outdoors. Once you get the less expensive scooter, you will want to upgrade it and then it becomes a frankensteinmobile where not all parts are as capable as others. Frankly for the slow inexpensive scooters, you might as well ride a bicycle that costs a lot less than they do.
