Wow! Now I can check off my new year's resolution list "show up on a Deejus video" lol. Thanks for covering this match! Was definitely a very fun game and I learned a lot from the match and from Po1and's super aggressive play, sacking units for the sake of economy. If you check the K/D it was insane, i think like 2:1 kills and value destroyed, but the low economy just hurts too much and ended up just evening things up (if not putting me at a constant disadvantage). The bboat mechanic is very funny, I saw Kantbei mentioning it on Discord once, blew my mind and have used a couple times now, pretty neat lol. I realized the terrible mistake I had done of picking Jake once Po1and starting spamming those copters, this map is just a very strong copter map, i thought artys would've been good with all the mountains but i was wrong. The whole blob at the top, with the 3 artys, the plan was kind of a desperation plan of going for the HQ cap, I thought Po1and was going to do the same as he had moved downwards towards my HQ, but then Po1and decided to attack into my army with that sideslip which just became into that long brawl till the end, stopping my HQ rush attempt. Very cool map, had been wanting to play it for a while and this was my first time on it lol.

One of the rare times I clicked into this because I have heard so much about these 2. Some background and quick analysis. Background: Humita - Lost to him once on Caustic Finale (Jake vs Adder as well. I was the Adder), a very strong player. Still talking to him today and proud to be a friend of his. Po1and - I was close to him in rating around November to December (around 1100 - 1200s) to the point where I could have easily matched up with him. Did not fight him as I was on extended AWBW break then, but he's been going places since. Now the match proper, focus on key moments. A River Supreme - Played on it once, probably one of my less favourite maps. The map feels choky enough to slow your tanks, but open enough so that arty do not have automatic nests. B Copters are strong here for that reason, more so if left unattended. So is preserving infantry and unit count. 9:23 Smart move by Po1and. Forcing Humita to choose. 12:55 TIL, a strategically smart move by Humita, as demonstrated later. If you see this long term, it allows Humita to force concentrate on the north (not forever, the south will need some cover soon) 15:09 As you see why later, this is the smarter move. 16k income vs 15k income does not produce that desired change of builds. You want 17k. Killing off the BCopter is not just instant gratification, it has longer term consequences too for unit deployment and unit movement. 19:14 I felt Humita made a mistake with the arty deployment, as you pointed out. Opting to slow down when he is pushing for the income and property advantage may have hurt him. This was one of those errors that hurt him down the line, not immediately. As for income disadvantage, this felt acute rather than chronic. 24:20 Oof, that income disadvantage and turtling is really starting to show. Against Po1and, you don't want to give him that opening to tear you a new one. Jake Arty feels good, but not like this, and not now. 24:55 Feels like a missed opportunity to repair the tank and AA as a defence against future attacks here, but hey, income disadvantage. 27:04 Income disadvantage is starting to worsen over the next few turns. It basically puts him into a forced build and against a sound attacking player, this is not something you want your future army to deal with. 35:07 Po1and's BCopter got a Best Buy Gift Card there for the harassment. It escaped at the end. Ultimately, this matchup can be boiled down into this: If you hold a unit count advantage, quality but down on income, you want the decisive blow or a way to recover income parity and hopefully still hold the unit advantage. Your tactics and aggression plan is key. If you hold an income advantage but suffering from lower unit count or unit quality, hold position and negate select units with what you have. Knowing what your biggest threats are is key.

Loving the Jess redemption arc here, I remember on pretty much every T4 vid where if she was mentioned at all it'd just be disregarding her as a trash pick (although sometimes it's true xD) Don't know if it was mentioned later on in the video but Humita actually beat Go7 on his stream alt once, making this the matchup between the top 2's slayers

Pretty 🌰 game 29:20, I think poland attacked into block rock here because he really had no choice. Humita built up a massive force heading right for the HQ, with power, so if Poland retreats/plays passive humanita could've easily set up a HQ cap, so his best bet was to just keep taking bad/okish trades until the army trickled down down, Hoping his income advantage made up for the lost value in the end. I thought Poland was being a monkey too at first until i saw the end result. Great content as always old man Deejus👍

Po1and did the same sort of strategy against Incuggarch. Take the property lead, front switch all over the place, force engagements away from their home base that seem good to take, but you always lose in the long run because of income disparity and distance of reinforcements. Poland was sloppy with his aggression towards the end but this was his game to lose

What a game! And great narration. I feel like Po1and made it look close by attacking into Humita too much - with different macro actions he could have won more comfortably. But as it was I was on the edge of my seat. Humita so close to cutting off the bridge north of Po1and's bases and building a wall there: that would have been game over

I like that Po1and didnt fall for the classic P2 trap where they buy tank first and P1 can respond with an unanswered BCopter and bought 2 infantries and then BCoptering himself next turn instead. Po1and is turbo-aggro in his playstyle and always attacks hard to gain income advantage and then keeps fighting letting the game even out and then slowly winning because he has the income advantage, kinda similar to StarFlash's style. B-B-Banger game though, I had no idea that the infantry inside blackboats heal because theyre on HQs thats wild, new tech acquired. 😆

I've had a Sami mirror-match against Po1and, and he sure is hyper aggressive. Even though he can't interrupt my caps and I have an infantry covering, he just attacks. It's very annoying to play against someone who just keeps pushing, but at least it's never boring.

That infantry within the black boat was smart. I guess that Air Units also heal on Cruisers and Carriers on a harbour and ground units on Landers on a harbour? And of course infantry/mechs in an APC.

I wouldn't be so sure but can't confirm. The infantry healed because they were on a building that could heal them. Land and air units in boats on ports doesn't seem like it would work.

@@marktaylor4962 Hmmm, you´ve got a point. I always assumed every unit can heal on a HQ, city, base, airport and harbour *if* they are on that tile (even if that is not possible). If I recall correctly, Black Boats placed on HQs usually get repaired even if they cannot be in that location unless the map creator pre-deployed them there. Anyways, I guess speculating about this is less helpful, but just interesting. Needs to be tested. It might not be the most helpful in competitive Advance Wars, but every bit of information could prove helpful one day. :D

Today we learned that units in a transport can heal while inside if the transport is on an appropriate tile. I certainly don't remember this being in the base game. Is this also true for any other transport?

I have a feeling this only works because bboats are not normally supposed to be on land tiles. You can't heal infantry that are inside an apc on a city after all.

Not entirely sure how much a full hp copter does to a black boat on a HQ but your base was defenseless for a good while, Po1and absolutely could have snuck an infantry in to grab your HQ and there’s no real good way to defend it unless you already have units out there.

i think red can't build any aa or copter to fight off that copter because if he does that his force in the upper part will slowly lose its momentum and since he's at an income disadvantage if he lose all those momentum i think he lose the game
