Love the build breakdown. Not a lot of Barras in these parts but the Hotrod Garage guys(Tony and Lucky) did a special on how the GM Vortec 4200 is very similar, cheaper and a lot easier to find.

A couple years ago there was a company importing barras to the states. A lot of Australians cracked it because these motors arnt made anymore and they didn’t want them getting sent off shore. Not sure if they still importing them to the states but last time I saw info about it there was 20-30 engines on pallets sitting in a us warehouse. DART engines have created a billet Barra you can now buy and have the potential to push 3000hp

@ctlife5566 yeah. I was sad to see that thing just sitting on top of a container roasting away. I understand why though. It had the weakest turbo Lima engine, for no better reason than to not compete against the SVO and turbo chicken. The T9 trans sucks, and a T5 or T56 swap takes some body work since the shifter sits further towards the firewall. The suspension sucks, the bolt pattern, the brakes suck. I can see why he would stick to VWs and stay away from that Ford. I on the other hand, have no such good sense. So I need a Barra!

Barras are sweet. I just learned about people building the inline 6 that come in trailblazers I guess? During sick summer, the drag and drive event that just happened, there was a dad and son duo they both had the GM inline 6 both with turbos. They said they come out of the trailblazer? They both said that they are great engines and extremely slept on. I'd like to see someone do a build with one of those engines. Learning more about them would be great. I'd be all over a GM turbo inline 6 if there's a good amount of aftermarket support.
