My first exposure to ICP was on the cable station "THE BOX" where people called a toll number for videos to be played on the channel. Finn that'd be a cool history video about t the history of how people saw music videos outside of MTV. And maybe music magazines like Spin, Rolling Stone and Vibe.

I kind of find their music to be juvenile, and while I wouldn't ever buy their CD's or go to their concerts I will listen to their music on KZbin sometimes. I was a fan of theirs in H.S but I grew out of them as I got older. I will tell you what though, these boys deserve NOTHING but respect for their drive and what they created with ICP, because they got very little help from MTv and radio, they were scared to play their music. Their success was created by word of mouth and they were one of the last of those groups who truly became a success by word of mouth without the help from radio or television.

I have to admit two things: 1) Finn is a great interviewer. He lets people talk and doesn't cut them off. That is how interviews should be done. Let people talk! 2) He has interviewed three people lately I am not a fan of: ICP, Fat Mike and Shifty. But here is the great thing: All of them I want to hear more about them FROM THEM, not from the media. Like ICP, they are great musicians. I am not a fan of Juggalos as a whole. I once had tickets (like 20 years ago), and there were people doing meth, bragging about stealing, etc. I left. But like J said, the fans are still people, they are people who a lot of society laughs at, they have a home with Juggalos, and I LOVE that. I am one to root for the underdog, and I'll admit, they are not my people, but I love them embracing giving a community to those who have none. And I am trying to not judge all Juggalos, lord knows, I am not a better person, I have been through a meth and stealing phase for one, and that is not all Juggalos for two, just a few that stood out to me. I love seeing people I am not fond of. It makes me see another side of them and I respect them more as people. Thanks Finn, thanks, Violent J! Great interview.

part 2 of what you said is basically how I got involved in ICP scene, your family let you down, your friends let you down, society let you down, youve never had a home where you felt loved valued or safe but your Juggalo family will never let you down, will love you, and give you a home. Not all Juggalos are great people like any other music fan group but for the awsome people you find and meet, their friends for life. They don't care who you are, what you are, where you've come from, what you've done, they want you for you. They're the people you join when no one wants you or you have no place to go. all under dogs in the concept alone we are weak but together we are strong.

@@HappinessDIY same here man! I used to talk so much shit about ICP. Then a buddy of mine told me to put up or shut up and so I went and saw ICP live and it was one of the greatest shows Iv seen. Fast foward from 16 to now and I’m actually in a sobriety group with them right now where they’re actively helping me get clean, process trauma relating to abandonment and physical violence, and figure out how to make better choices to succeed. It’s nuts man I talked so much shit and now those same people are the ones who inviting me in and giving me the things I never had. Life is weird but awsome and I’m so humbled

It's great hearing positive thoughts come from outside our little world. I can assure you that the majority of Juggalos are legit beautiful people from all walks of life. I for one came from a home where my mother didn't and never attempted to this day to try and understand or support me in my way of life. Even before I became a Juggalo she just didn't understand preteen/teenage boys. She thought everything I did outside of her interests was just evil. My father (may he rest in peace) worked 2 jobs to make sure we had food on the table. He was supportive and showed it every few hours he had with me. But the man was busy making sure my sister and I had a roof and food. The juggalo world filled the emptiness I felt for years because even though dad did his best, mom still made me feel unwanted. From day 1 of meeting juggalos outside my friends from school. I was accepted and brought into this world of support and just plain good times. Not a single one of us did anything illegal outside of smoking some pot. It was all chilling, talking, and enjoying each other's company. Fast forward to today. I now have a family and have raised my daughter with the juggalo values. Does she listen to the music? Nope. But she spreads the love I was given from the juggalos and I have seen her friends start following the same path. I take the values I learned from my father and the juggalos and apply them to my job as a counselor for the homeless. Letting them know that they have some work to do and and the road is a hard one. But they are not alone and if they put their minds to it we can get them moved on to bigger and better things. That last part were things I learned from listening to Violent J speak over the years. Nothing is impossible as long as you're willing to put in the work. The working with the homeless comes from my father who was a social worker and teaching me that there is always happiness to be found in helping others. Sorry for rambling on. I just hope you know that the few juggalos that made you feel that way are the small few to the bigger picture. We are everywhere and chances are you know some of us and never knew it because we fit in more than most would ever think. We just do it our way.

@@FallenGamer I love your story, thanks for sharing it. And like I said, I know my experience isn't the whole. It was also, like I said, decades ago. Most of my friends growing up were really into punk rock or hip hop. I always loved both but I was all about ICP. I’ve seen them live more than 20x, and met them on several occasions, Great guys! You can see the hurt in J’s face when he thought about Bloody Sunday and the death of his GF. I know he has had some issues with pills recently and had to do some stints in rehab, and has had some recent heart issues. I hope he finds a way to work through some of the tougher parts in his life and pull through. Great video Finn and the Wicked Clowns never DIE!!!!!!!!!

After the devastating news of Pat McAfee leaving for ESPN, hearing J say that about creative expression, freedom of speech and liberating yourself from barriers at the 17:00. That hits home bro.

I love how opened minded you are about music and the many genres! A few years ago, I seen ICP just for the ridiculous and absurd show. I was never a fan. People always made fun of juggalos in high school. I, myself included. Seeing them perform changed my mind. Juggalos were warm and welcoming. They took care of each other. ICP loves their fans and works hard for them. Its definitely a community. They are unique. Legends of DIY. I totally agree what you have to say about them. I love your takes Finn.

Great interview. Idk ICP’s music at all, but I’m from Detroit and have heard him in interviews in the past. Very down to earth and it’s great that he can admit flaws.. not everyone can do that. Overall I’m very impressed.

Over 20 years ago, ICP literally got me through high school. The day Shangri-La dropped, I went and bought a copy after school and I just sat down in my room and listened to it, beginning to end. I was surprised at first, never really been a believer and still am not, I'm more on the agnostic side, but over time I've taken it more as becoming a better person to those around you, and that literally shaped the person that I am today. No other band and community ever had and ever will have as big of an impact on my life. I don't really listen to anything past The Tempest, but it's crazy how over the years, we went from being dissed for liking ICP, to them being massively respected by the people and the industry, and that's amazing to see.
